Flexible tap connectors. Yes or no?

I'm going to do some DIY in the bathroom, and will probably use flexible tap connectors to make things a bit easier. But, I remember a few years ago a plumber telling me never to use them as they are prone to splitting and making a bit of a mess. Any thoughts?

Dont buy cheap ones, they do split.0

plus rigid copper connections are far more relaible and offer that extra support to the taps to prevent them from moving or becoming loose0

They are the lazy man's way of doing something which is straightforward if you have a decent bender and can eye things up reasonably. I prefer to do it with a bender, although I will consider semi rigid hand bendable connection sections.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Never lived in a house that didn't have these going to the taps and I've never had one split.0

I believe if you buy the correct length of flexi pipe it will be fine, don't buy too short, hence strain/twists/tight.0

My plumber wont fit them as they can reduce the flow slightly. Compare the bore of these to 22mm copper pipe for instance. He also reckons you get a more secure job with copper but he also says lots of pumbers use the flexi connectors these days so they obviously do the job. It's a matter of opinion how well.Herman - MP for all!0

Never had one split yet.
- Just don't over tighten the connectors or they will leak.0 -
Like others, I have used them and never had a problem0

Some types/makes of tap come with flexible hoses supplied, nothing wrong with them as long as good practice is used in fitting them.Norn Iron Club member No 3530
