Just read your post and I think you have made a very brave start and I'm sure you can make savings.
You talk about being worried at work etc, if you work for a large company do they have some kind of employee assisantance programme you can talk to? If they have they are usually annoymus (excuse spelling children are screaming) and professional which may help take the load off your shoulders.
Re Oh and work what about some temp work for one of the large supermarkets?
All the best

OP
You are obviously, doing well to pay off those debts each month, but you need to cut back on all the luxuries, you've done well to work it all out, but be ruthless, make sure you know you are adding up everything you spend money on, right down to the last penny
Cancel the sky and watch the 5 free channels, get a freeview if you must.
Change your most used bulbs to energy bulbs and turn things off whenever possible lights in unoccupied rooms, don't leave TV on standby. Don't boil a full kettle to only use half of it. turn your hot water setting down, and only heat it when you want to use it.
Cut out all junk food chocolate fizzy drinks, crisps, biscuits, cake etc,
Change your cereal to a cheap one, look at the $ per Kg on the shelf and choose one which is cheap, no more Chocolate shreddies etc, how about own brand cornflakes cheaper in a 1Kg box.
Cut down on your sugar consumption (if it is high) my house uses 500g of sugar per year with 2 people, to give you an idea.
Buy dried pasta, it's cheap as chips, rice is an excellent cheap food and won't go off, buy 10 kg or 20 kg or even 45kg (from an asian shop) you'll save loads of money.
Smoking, an obvious one, you and your partner need to quit or seriously cut down to half as many.
Mobiles, why? use payg and stop phoning unneccesarily, it was only 12 years ago, no one had a mobile phone, life is possible without them.
Telephone, is it really neccessary? If it is use 1899.co.uk for all calls.
Internet, it's expensive but it's very useful, however, it is possible to use the library internet - free, not practical I know, it's something I'm thinking about chucking away though, if you're with ntl phone up and get 1mb for 9.99, if with BT look for the cheapest package out there.
If you have a car, you didn't mention it so you don't have one? only use it for essential journeys. Is selling it and using public transport a cheaper option and not too inconvienient? or sell it for a cheaper model. Ride a bike? How do you get to work?
You may not like the idea but you have to cut back in order to save money.0 -
Hi and well done for posting.Ex gambler here.I would gamble possibly every day.had a very good business and lots of money coming in.About 78 years ago it took a nose dive,it was more serious than I thought.Maybe it was shock or something but my gambling was almost stopped in it`s path.I was full of remorse at what I had done, indeed it was a lightbulb moment.
With me,I worked out why I gambled and spoke to another gambler who said the same.Whilst gambling,it wasn`t really about winning but during the act any worries, stresses became blocked. The game was all.It was like being in another world.I didn`t use GA but you might find that talking to fellow gamblers,it would be helpful.
I`m glad I got over it before online gambling.I dread to think how tempting that might have been.0 -
