DX2, yes, she gets carers allowance but she has to live!! She also has to put £20 a week in the car to get me backwards and forward to the hospital which is an hours drive.
Yes but you didn't give the full facts you said she only gets £40 per week Income support. She gets £40 per week Income support, plus £53.10 per week Carers allowance bit of a difference there.
    *SIGH*

I think a trip to the CAB is in order anyway. If you have to go to hospital you may be able to claim this back, either by claiming on a HC1 form (?) or by applying for Income support yourself

I think a bit of impartial, professional advice is called for given the sum.

At £5/week it'd take over 54 years to pay back, and I don't think they'd find that acceptable.
    Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
    Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.
  • There's no other option, she can't afford any more than that. What will happen if they won't accept £5 a week?

£14,00 overpayment for a two year period would work out at about £135 per week. That's rather more than CTC and CB.

I know it is difficult, but try not to make yourself more poorly with worry. Get in touch with CAB/ DIAL/ Welfare Rights as soon as you can, they will be able to clarify things, and if need be, negotiate payments on your behalf.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Hi, please try not to worry ,I promise you once you have spoke to CAB or even better DIAL you will feel alot better , you may be entitled to more money than you are receiving anyway such as DLA, help towards hospital travel costs etc
As for any money you may need to pay back, there is a minimum amount that you are aloud to live on and they will not make you pay back an amount that would bring you under this.
Hope you get it all sorted out soon so you can stop worrying, all the best to you and your mum
