Getting a stair carpet but getting confused about measurements...can someone please help me?
from the bottom of the stairs is as follows..
11 steps, EACH step is 93cm wide by 44cm (thats the up bit then the flat bit)
then we have a wee square bit thats 100cm by 101cm
then its 3 steps...each step 93cm wide and 44cm as before.
then there is another bit at the top which is 205cm wide by 165cm (at largest points)
Now on the 11th step and the 14th step Ive said 44 cm but obviously its not because thats going into the next bit of square carpet???
would it be easier getting someone in the proffesion out? Or is there an easy way of doing it?
thank you for any help.

I only measured this once, a simpler one it was too. To get the length required I used a ball of string and ran it from top to bottom tucking it into the shape of the treads and using books to keep it in corners ..then measured the string used.
If you have a pro fitting it I think that''s wise ...I hated it and it is potentially dangerous I found later when a part came loose

A pro carpet fitter will probably charge less than £50 to lay a stair carpet. It is the most difficult carpet to do, especially with 'Dog leg' Returns like you appear to have. Get him to measure it too and you will save yourself a lot of grief.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I was quoted ages ago about £120 to fit it, a guy out of the paper that was doing my living room one at the time..will probably need underlay too...mmmm might pop into a shop at the weekend with my measurements and see what they make of them, if anything!!!:rotfl:
