The g/f a week or so ago suggested putting carpet in the conny we are having built.....i dismissed it straight away :rotfl:
But after thinking about it over the last couple days its starting to make scene abit.
Our garden is all graveled so there is no worrys about mucky shoes walking in and out.
Also like the idea that carpet would not be cold on the feet even in evil winter time.....with some nice 11mm dreamwalk underlay
Anyone actually got carpet in there conservatory?.

Good idea.
How you gonna heat it and minimise the heat loss?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Well 2 options in our minds at the moment :-
1. Undercarpet heating. It would appear googling that there is underlay built for this purpose. Not sure on this idea as worry about the heating matt getting damaged with some "ladys" heals or somethingPlus lets say its going to cost i figure £400 all in to buy and install....seems quite alot.
2. Some sort of oscillating fan tower to push the heat about.
Like i say already defo getting either EZ Fit Reflektions Pleated or EZ Fit Energy Saver Pleated blinds http://www.conservatoryblinds2go.co.uk/pleated-thermal-conservatory-blinds.asp.....not sure which 1 of them to go for as yet. Got a sample book of the energy 1's just weighting for the Reflektions now.0 -
Probably too late now but you should have gone for an under floor heating system off your central heating and a glass roof.
Tower fan will be a waste of time and money.
You'll probably find it's too hot in summer, too cold in winter and wished you'd gone for a proper extension.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I have gone for a glass roof, pilkington activ blue. Along with Argon, super spacer double glazing for the windows
Not into the idea of having heating off my system as its close to its max already (Had a couple other things done to house) so would have to upgrade my boiler.
My i ask why a fan heater wouldnt work?0 -
Try this on the floor, it is brilliant stuff.
Very warm underfoot, very easy to keep clean. Have it in my conservatory.

If you put roof vents in the roof then they will allow heat to escape from the conservatory in summer. My parents have carpet in their conservatory, it doesnt feel freezing like unheated tiles in winter and never gets too hot, but its not "trendy". With reference to wet UFH it depends how much you will use the room in winter as to whether or not the cost is worth it, especially if you need a boiler upgrade. If you are only going to use the conservatory occasionally in the winter (i.e for short durations) then the fan heater would work. UFH has a long response time so if you are only going to use the conservatory every now and then you would be spending a lot of cash for not much benefit!0

CheersThe difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -
Ye olde activ blue self cleaning scam eh? It isn't really totally self cleaning even when its vertical!
Good because if you did then technically your conny becomes an extension and subject to planning restrictions.
Cheers
I think there is a loop hole if you put thermostatic valves on a rad then you get around the "permanently heated" restriction, although i would have to check this out for sure.
Yer imagen it not totally what it says but its the best there is so cant ask for much more:rolleyes:0 -
Yep we have carpet in the conservatory, and looked great to start with but has faded horribly fast, and particularly in those little slivers where the sun gets through the blinds:mad:Light travels faster than sound - that's why you can see someone who looks bright until they open their mouth.0

I have a massive heavy rug that almost covers the floor in my conservatory. It does makes it feel warmer, even though it isn't. I would have liked underfloor heating too but it already had a tiled floor so no point in changing it now.0
