Apologies if this has been posted before but I'm so excited about this one I had to post!!
Just signed up to Napster's 7 day free trial (via Quidco £8.50 cashback!) and my PC is now happily downloading all the recent chart albums that I've been thinking about getting.
So lots of free albums/singles and I'm getting paid to do it ! :rotfl: :rotfl:
https://www.quidco.com (NOT a referral link) - type in Napster and bob's your uncle or just go via napster direct if you haven't got a quidco account.

Hello. I have done the Napster trial before, however it seems that when you cancel the free trial, you cannot access the music anymore - it just searches for the license and cannot find it. Very disappointing, especialy when you download so much to take advantage! Did anyone else find this?Money money money!0

In that case just burn them off as soon as you have enough for a blank CD0

I am afraid that is the case. You have to continue a subscription in order to continue to play your mp3's.
As this is not really a freebie seeing that you need to continue to pay, I will move this to shop but don't drop.

If the license of the music is for the duration of your membership, does it not then become and "illegal" download if you try to circumnavigate the licensing to continue listening after the trial period?
Just sayin'0 -

Dunno give it a go.
It is with all other mp3 stuff.0 -
Not sure if I'm being stupid here but if you download loads of free Napster music onto your mp3 player then how on earth can Napster prevent you from listening to it? And surely that's what most people will be doing?
I might try this tonight. Can anyone tell me if you can choose different encoding options with Napster? I'm very particular with my settings and bit rates.

They will have DRM - Digital Rights Management on the files to stop you listening to them without a valid licence. I really hate DRM.0 -
mega confused here! signed up this morning for the Free Napster trial - option to save unlimited musci to computer. I have tried moving the music from my cd drive ontop my mp3 but no joy. So thought I would burn to disc - have to go thru the Napsters own burn programme and they are charging 79p per track. So is it only free listen on your computer but you have to pay to convert to either your MP3 player or CD??
can someone clarify please.
thx huggins0 -
I will explain it as I understand it:
Napster is in effect a rental service; (this excludes buying tracks for 79p, which can be used in most ways)
By using this free trial, and then if you continue to pay £9.99 a month, you are renting all the music in their collection for you to listen to.
With this rented music, you are able to stream it from the internet, or download it onto your computer, to listen to without having to be on the internet. You cannot copy these files onto a cd without paying 79p per track.
However, as soon as your trial finishes, the DRM will not allow the music to continue to be played, so in effect it is just a dead file.
If you pay £14.99 a month, you are also able to copy the rented music onto your mp3 player (only certain ones work as they require special software)
This will also stop working after your trial has ended
All in all, stop paying and you will have no music at the end.0
