Can i ask here, but how is a big dog going to calm him down?

You have a PUPPY, its normal puppy behaviour that they grow out of with age

Puppy classes are places where pup can play with othr pups around his age group in a safe environment and where you and your family can learn how to read the dogs body language and learn how best to handle pup and start the first steps towards training him..

Putting a boisterous pup in with a very timid older dog can cause serious behaviour problems for the timid dog. Even though its not living with you from your posts you suggest that your pup is with it a lot of the time in the timid s dog home. If that is the case maybe you need to be looking at a play pen there so the dog who lives in the house doesnt feel so threatened? believe me, you have a timid dog feeling very threatened and cornered then you are really looking at some serious problems developing when the puppy licence wears off.

I for the life of me cant see how by bringing in a bigger dog is going to teach your pup anything, unless of course rotty is so confident it goes for pup therefore teaching pup to be scared of other dogs

BTW - led where? Your pup should not be out until his second injection

    Next trick

How can I get him to behave with other dogs? He stays at the missus mum's when we are at work and they have a jack Rusell.

The JR is soft and probably scared of his own shadow - my pup however runs up to him and tries to play/ nip, however the JR just runs off. How can I stop him bullying the bigger dog and to be nice?!

Your puppy doesn't need to practice doing this and your Mum's JR definately shouldn't have to put up with it.

They need to be seperated and your pup given lots of varied experiences with other dogs asap. Then he will learn to be polite around the JR.

You also need to be careful about letting your friends Rotty teach him anything. Great if he learns something useful from the experience but what if he learns to be scared of big dogs or how to use your strength to beat up smaller dogs?

I also wouldn't touch Beta puppy with a 10 foot barge pole.

Just my opinion but who else's would I give. ;)
A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.
