Dispatch Star - Grr

A colleague got an email yesterday from a seller asking for an additional £1.60 to upgrade the item from 2nd class standard to 1st class recorded on the basis that the strikes mean it won't arrive otherwise. Colleague naturally refused and has said she is quite happy with the 2nd class standard that she has paid for (incidentally payment went on Sunday night). She's just had an email to say that item will be sent tomorrow or Thursday but as it is going 2nd class against ebay recommendations she, the seller, is not responsible if it doesn't arrive.

But recorded still doesn't mean that it'll get there! I sent something recorded the day before the strikes started, only because I wanted to have proof of delivery and the guy behind the counter told me three times that it didn't guarantee delivery or that it'd get there by a certain day.
I didn't realise ebay had recommendations about class of postage?Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

They don't , seller is telling porkies.
Recorded makes no difference at all to speed of delivery either with the strike or without.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I bought off a seller last Tuesday with almost identical wording about not being responsible for loss she was only offering 2nd class standard, the auction ended at tea time so wasn't expecting it to be posted then, paid immediately. After receiving no communication I emailed and asked when it would be posted and told tomorrow (Monday). Seems some sellers are useing the strikes as an excuse not to post within a reasonable time.
I've had post althrough the strikes and a couple of parcels from ebay that were purchased last Monday and delivered on Friday, but like others have said there is no way to show this other than in the actual feedback.2011 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £743.32

Aww they haven't a clue have they. So there not sending it till Thursday just in time for more strikes:rolleyes:0 -
There may be a bit of confusion due to this being on the strikes page:Delivering mail – we will continue to prioritise and deliver premium service (Special Delivery™ and Royal Mail Tracked™) items to customers.
Obviously tracked and recorded are different services, but it's easy to see how they could be mixed up.This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -
Just heard from a friend they have just received an item they paid for about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Postmarked yesterday. Due to the lack of a dispatch star they have left a neg and marked all the remaining DSRs to 1 !!.
I think thats a bit of an overeaction. I think the lack of the dispatch star is almost encouraging this reaction. As others have said it seems some sellers seem to think the strike is means they can be a little more lax on there postal times.0 -
Some people are not aware Post Office and Royal Mail are two different organisations and so are not posting during strikes as they don't realise the Post Office is actually open. I made the mistake of going in a small rural post office on a strike day to try and post something and was told it would never get there cause of 'trikes.0

I bought & paid for something 15 days ago & still havent received it.
I have tried contacting the seller 4 times to ask when it was sent & have opened a Paypal dispute because they didnt respond.
Funnily enough they managed to respond once the dispute was opened to say that I needed to hang on because of the strikes.
NowI know there are strikes on & am fully prepared to wait for my items, but I feel that they are taking the mickey & using the strikes as an excuse for not sending or sending late. Im not even sure if Ill get my item, but I very much doubt I will be leaving a positive for this one.0 -
It doesn't help matters when our local post office closed for 2 days during the strikes for a computer upgrade! First thing I knew about it was when I turned up with packages only to find a closed notice. Doesn't help when they are using the strike as an excuse also.0
