Dispatch Star - Grr

Ok we know the Dispatch time star has been removed while strikes on. God thats annoying. Dispatch is the amount of time it takes the seller to send the item. Not the time it takes RM to get the item to you. I bought something a couple of weeks ago. Assumed it got caught in post it arrived today with post mark on it for the 30th. So from me buying and paying it took them 10 days to go to the PO and send it even though the listing says within 1 working day!

So of course I wanted to mark his dispatch star down but I can't. Just annoyed

I think ebay are working on the lowest common denominator again, because a few buyers are completely oblivious to the postal issues none of us can now mark on dispatch. Unfortunately I think this may well backfire, I had hesitated to mention it as I didn't want to give trigger happy people any excuse, but I am aware of another forum where people may be using the neutral button now for late dispatch whereas they might have left a positive before with low stars.

There is also something else that I am susprised has not been discussed, last week when I printed off some RM postage the 'must post by' date wasn't the next day but 5 days hence. Therefore a casual observor may think I posted it 5 days later than I actually did.

    We can't win either way.

Mine wasn't paypal mail. As you said we can't win. The item is great so i have no problem leaving a positve which I have. just annoyed I cant use the DSRs for what they are meant for.

Neutral for late dispatch is a little over the top though

Do you think so? I don't. Isn't it just as bad as a buyer paying late? I think that a lot of people would actually leave a neg for late dispatch (not me personally), never mind a neutral!

Since the change and TRS DSRs have far more effect on business sellers than neg feedback, which is part of my point without that Dispatch star you are almost telling people to leave negs and neutrals.

As for mine the item was great I was in no rush. I will probably by from him again as the sort of items he sells are hard to come by. Other than the dispatch there were no problems. personally I never normally consider negs/neutrals until multiple things are wrong with the sale as everyday things are what DSRs are there for really IMO
  • Personally the suspension of the dispatch DSR is a huge bonus, since we have had to post around the strikes. There's no point a buyers item being posted only to get stuck in a backlog, whereas if we post late then it will get to them sooner.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

    That's a fair point.
  • Im finding the same thing- sellers are taking ages to post as they know they can 'get away with it' now. Im selling some random bits at the moment, and i have been asking the buyers if they want me to post after the strike days, and all of them have said yes. But i always post the day after the strike day, and let the buyers know.
Ive bought a fair bit recently, and people are taking up to 2 weeks to post!! And this is without even bothering to contact me. Obviously there are still people posting immediately/within 4ish days, but a lot are slacking. One person asked me if i wanted them to post after the strike

By the same token, one can't give proper credit to those sellers that continue to post quickly.

Bizzarly, things that are posted seem to be getting through quicker at the moment (they were discussing this on Radio 5 Live the other day and my own experience both in selling and buying bears out).

Probably a neutral or neg is in order for those that take too long to post.

I have had no noticeable change in the time stuff takes to arrive. Even good old Amazon sending stuff to me by 2nd class mail manages to get stuff to me in less than a week.

I've continued posting out every day using 2nd class post as usual and will carry on doing so unless I hit a real problem.

As Soolin I haven't had any change in the speed stuff takes to arrive. Our local mail always takes a day (doesn't seem to matter if you send 2nd or 1st) Nationally I have had a couple of Amazon parcels arrive quickly. The only thing I have noticed is some courier deliveries we normally get seem to take an extra day or so. Maybe its there extra volume of work.
