  • If you sign up to any tariff that includes free internet, then you will be able to retrieve your work emails using any email client. If you have a Nokia, try their Nokia messaging suite for accessing your email accounts and get free push email. I can't advise you on how to set this up as I don't use email push myself, but I believe its very similar to "Email on 3" client.

    Good luck.

Your work email needs to be POP enabled. If it is accessed via a VPN, then different rules apply. All networks offer broadly the same services, some offer enhaced 'push' email so it arrives directly from the server, you don;t have to check - but the data overheads are higher, and the possible cost.

Not strictly true, IMAP (used by gmail for example) is another protocol for receiving emails, and both it and POP3 are independent of whether a VPN is required to connect to the work servers.

I agree with the Nokia suggestion. It is really easy to set up your email accounts in the messaging suite using the settings wizard. You just need your internet provider, username, and password, and it sets it up automatically. Easy.

Do take note of the differences mentioned above, of internet based email like hotmail, gmail etc... vs. Push based email. Orange do unlimited push email plans, but out of contract they are very expensive.

However for web page based emails, you aren't emailing from the phone just talking to the website so it is classed as data usage. So you just need a xxxMB data bundle.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
