  • Thanks for above info, I've also found it very useful. Was thinking of going to gp year after next, 2011 when we are planning going to visit Australia. (a sort of holiday of a lifetime) I also quite fancied the night time gp, which I think might be singapore, anyone been to either of those?

We've been to the Australian Grand Prix twice, about 3 years ago and 8 years ago. If it stays in Melbourne, our experience with it has been great. We always get the 4-day ticket as it's had some added bonuses like the chance to walk part of the track early on race morning and is good value for money. We've always ordered our tickets directly (not used a 3rd party) and have had great seats on the start/finish straight. Transport to and from the circuit is great - especially when leaving, we'd figured we were hours away from getting on a tram based on the crowds, but they had it so well organized it was no time at all. Facilities at the circuit are good, food options are varied, etc.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • I was at the Australian race this year. It was fantastic. Lygon Street - the Italian part of Melbourne goes mad for the race (and particularly Ferrari). Federation Square had a promotional day where we met Eddie Jordan, David Coulthard, Martin Brundle and Timo Glock just while just walking around. All the BBC team were there too.

The circuit at Albert Park allows plenty of space to sit and relax, eat and drink.

After the race, which started at 1700, they put on entertainment (The Who live in '09, Kiss in '08) to prevent a mad rush for transport out of the circuit - not that we'd had any transport problems over the whole weekend.

I also bought tickets direct at www.grandprix.com.au

The Singapore night race looks amazing from aerial shots at least. I'm not sure it would be much different to any other race if you're there, but that's just my guess. I have a friend who really enjoyed it, but as he lives in Singapore it's difficult get a view of how it would be for a tourist, from him.
