Didn't they stop putting copper into pennies in 92?It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -
I used to date the CFO's son (honest) and there was NO WAY they'd use Cillit Bang on anything in their v beautiful, expensive house paid for out of the profits from selling...Cillit Bang. Somehow that told me I was better off never going near the stuff. :rotfl:0

well I looked on the label at a promotional stand and saw all the crap in it
its extremly toxic and as my mother went crazy on this sort of stuff when I was a child & I now have asthma
there is an expression
Sleep with the devil....
the devil will take you away
you can clean most things with vinegar, water and lemon juice
its not toxic, not tested on cats, dogs and rabbits and does a great job
much cheaper too
Gnever take advice from broke or unsuccessful people

Lets be honest here it will not help that your oven door had been dismantled and placed flat on a floor will it?
I cannot for the life of me see how somthing like this could ever shatter glass, especially oven glass! Glass is used to hold acid! Are you sure there wasn't a piece of grit under the glass when lay down?
I think i would accept the £300 if it is still up for offer!0 -
Just final update on this one :-
ollyk - there were two separate pieces of glass flat on the floor & they blew up at the same time, so grit isn't really an option. No pressure was placed on the glass at any time, they were just sprayed.
Interestingly, about two weeks after their 'final' letter, which said they had their solicitors ready and waiting to defend them (which we ignored), we got a call from a different bloke from the makers of cilit bang.
I suspect by this time they had been contacted by trading standards. The guy said he was surprised customer services hadn't asked for a sample of our cilit bang, or at least the batch number from the bottle, as batches earlier in the year had damaged several peoples ovens.
To cut a long story short, they increased their offer to £500 immediately, or more if we didn't mind waiting whilst he pushed the paperwork through (but that could take some time).
We though that was a much fairer offer and took the £500 and that is that.
Thanks to all for the advice - much appreciated.Check out www.fancyanargument.com :T0 -
Glad to hear you got something sorted and are happy with the result
Here I go again on my own....0
