had a new toilet unit fitted 4 years ago. after flushing it refills itself as it should. sometimes it will not stop and overflows into the pan. found that sometimes if i turn on the bath cold tap full the toilet stops filling. it works sometimes. removing the cover of the toilet the innards are all white plastic and seem low quality to me. what can i do?

also had to use the stop valve now there is a small drop of water seeping out

not my week :-(
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

it's sometimes a piece of debris that stops the new style alves from sealing completely so they continue to fill albeit slowly. Sometimes teh change in pressure from starting and stopping the bath tap may be enough to dislodge the debris and it seals. Often have to take ours completely apart to remove debris which is a pain in the newer style valves
