My credit rating is ok (nothing brilliant though!). I applied online with T-mobile, and was told that they would need some further details, so I completed instore, and walked out with a Nokia 5800. I had a printout of my application online, which helped.

It is a good phone. Try and get a 12 month contract, so you get your deposit back.

Sublime, I was just accepted for a Nokia 5800 on three, had to pay £100 deposit which is refunded - Is the phone good? Also whats your terms regarding the deposit?

I didn't have to pay a deposit, they went through the whole process again instore, and said it was fine; but yes its a great phone. Good for web browsing, email, playing music, games etc. Its just fun to play around with. I have downloaded various games, and utilities for free, such as opera mini, google maps, and scummvm. You won't be disappointed.

The only problem I have encountered was after I had downloaded too many 3rd party applications to my phone (approx 40-50; more than the average user), so I had to do a reset. I have since downloaded 30+ extra applications (can't resist!), with no problems. I would still recommend, just bear that in mind.

Sounds good sublime, out for postage today I believe so look forward to having a play with it, I'm not the best technically to be honest, how do you go about downloading apps for it?

I have used Ovi store on my phone for some free downloads. You can install Ovi suite on a pc, and/or Ovi store direct to your phone (my preference). If you browse through the phone there will be a downloads folder which will install Ovi store for you.
I also use Nokia PC suite (I prefer for transferring files, much easier). You can download off the internet. Also look for Symbian S60 v5 downloads.
    Have fun!
  • Cheers sublime, I downloaded a music file from nokia store, however when I go to settings and try to assign the song to my ringtone it wont allow me. Its a dcf file, no idea what that means, any ideas?

None of my tones are in that format. I am currently using a song, off an album I transferred through Pc suite.

A quick google shows that there has been problems with that format after a firmware update. See here, here, here, and here. I have never come across this problem before, but it looks like you either have to contact the Nokia care centre for re-activation which would be a good place to start, or you can do as suggested in the first two links.

Let me know how you get on.
  • Cheers, all looks a bit too technical for me! lol The song plays fine, but when I try to assign it as my ringtone it says unable to complete request, strange. Where do you get your music from? Is it possible to transfer music from the likes of Limewire etc into the nokia suite then sync that way? Music thats currently on my laptop can I trandfer this directly onto the phone?

Apologise if these are very stupid questions, just getting to grips of all this.

I have downloaded a few albums off my pc's Music folder, using Nokia Pc suite. Its really easy to transfer that way. Just drag the folder for each album onto the phone image. I haven't got limewire, and haven't purchased any music yet (just games and apps, mostly free), as I've got plenty of albums, so can't comment on that.

Regarding the ringtone. Try going into Music, Music Player, All songs; A list of songs on your phone should come up. Select the song you want, click on options, click on use tone as ringing tone. If your ringtone isn't actually a song, go to settings, personal, profiles, general, personalise, ringing tone, a list of tones appears, so click on the one you want, and press select. It works for me.
