Really horrible the way some people gloat at the misfortune of those who took a risk by doing something with their lives.

Still, it could be worse ... she could have been a STR moron
Eh? Who's gloating? Gloat is a word we don't understand on this thread..

.....................it's more a bit of OMG coupled with !!!!!!??!! And I feel she will write a good story soon (she is so pitching for her next book with Dopestars quoted column) about self esteem that can become masked by addictive behaviour (in her case, debt, shopping, ''because I am worth it type'' of thing) and it's very topical for now.

You know Debt is Wealth yadda yadda.

£9 for a tube of toothpaste I ask you. I am not being funny but does anyone else agree she spent all that money and she's still.........well ugly and worse quite scary:eek::rotfl:

What toothpaste is £9 anyway? Is it any good cos my teeth are the grims.

I finished my 'My Publisher' books and some got delivered yesterday.....great pics, I looked nice but I could really do with spnding 10k on a set of new teeth.
  • I do think she writes well - not that I'm an expert in that department - but she sort of hooks you in and you can't help but read to the end.....

bankruptcy is where this story ends, don't you think?

No, I think she will do 'Cutting back' with several thousand words of how painful it is, yet, liberating and a book on her journey back into solvency. Perhaps I should link DFW and Oldstyle board to the column comments.??

Is the going rate for a book about 250k? So, finish book and debt all gone. Voila.:D

Based on fc's comments I picked up a Liz Jones article about life in the New Forest. I didn't realise until then that she bought Prada jodhpurs. I'm sure they are stylish, but who on earth goes riding in Prada jodhpurs? Very odd and very hard to feel either affinity to or sadness for. Still, thanks to fc to bringing her to my attention.

    Your welcome Viva. :D

    Loved this comment under it.
This is one crazy woman - completely off of her trolley - a genuine 'one-off''; yet, for some inexplicable reason, her columns never fail to give enjoyment. She may be a total loon, but she certainly can write, and what a refreshing change from that army of pompous, self-satisfied, personal finance advisers that so dominates the media since the onset of the credit crunch. When she goes to jail, I, for one, will gladly visit her!!

Don't spend £10K yet fc imo. (Also I believe fc is exaggerating a lot, as I've seen fc looking great and with a very nice smile.)

For me there are fewer people with money to spend on cosmetic stuff now the easy money HPI bubble is over, but lots of people set up to service old-demand levels, so the prices many dentists charge have to fall, if they want clients through the door. The clear signs of this are upon us.
Integrated Dental Holdings, which operates more than 250 practices, has been put up for sale for £200 million. That is £100 million less than when Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity, now part of Bank of America, bought a majority stake early last year, although that included debt.

Great article here, and I suspect it will be repeated in the UK too, with pressures for fees to be lowered significantly.

I have more time but can't afford the fillers and botox to look as fresh as Liz as I still have one more child to get educated......

Will you do so once the child costs are ended?

    OK..Thanks for that :D

While some wait for House Prices to fall, others wait for White Shiny New Teeth prices to fall too. I have heard veneers are painful in that, you destroy the strong teeth (if a bit dingy and misshapen) to have the veneers applied on top.
They can be sensitive and only last a decade too....so you have to start a savings plan to get ready to sort them out again one day.

I must have an OCD thing going on with teeth as I notice peoples teeth all the time nowadays, whereas a few years back, I didn't notice at all.

Very odd indeed. Is that why the papers always feature expensive clothes, shoes and bags? I know they sometimes do the recession stuff from Primark et al but that always seems to be a concession they don't really see the need for.

I always wonder where these hordes of wealthy fashionistas hang out and feel cheated that they and their expensive tastes are seen as the norm. I can't remember when I last paid more than £10 for a handbag.
