E mail and internet access in south africa

I will be in South Africa for three weeks over Christmas. First I will be in a hotel off Kruger National Park, then moving on to hotels in cerntral Durban and Cape Town. The hotels have expensive WI fi so I am looking for a cheaper alternative for an hour or so each day to keep up with e mails and do a bit of surfing. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Sorry, no suggestion other than pay the hotel fees or see if there is a local internet cafe. Depending where you are around Kruger, mobile phone and internet access can be anything between not very good and non-existent!
Local internet cafes will be the best value if you're in a town, but if you're in the bush either pay hotel price or go withoutMS Stalwart. Used site for >10 years :jMake Do, Mend and Minimise member - focussing on upcycling/repurposing and sewing0 -
Buy a local SIM and dongle when you get there, should be OK in the cities, not sure about Kruger though, doubt it there is decent 3G coverage there. No free lunch, and no free laptop

not a lot of 3g nationwide, mainly grps or EDGE - tick boxes on coverage map to add each on network sites
