This may be our culprit then ~

To make matter worse, the ProtexisLicensing service may make PC boots up slower, and when disabled, will cause Corel Paint Shop Pro to stop working, in addition to warn you of running illegal copy of non-genuine software. Besides, PSIService.exe does not uninstall together with the application that installed it, when the application is uninstalled and removed.

I had the problem before I installed the Corel program and the other machine connected to the router has not got the program but has the same problem connecting.

I have found this about DNS problems and was suprised to see the ping test returned the same results as mine when I could not connect.

The trouble is two different machines connected to the same router are having the same problems. Makes me think its either the router or my ISP!

If it works when you reboot a couple of times then it surely must be the router

Thanks very much for your patience....it looks like you are right.

I've got a Netgear DG834G router but it doesn't appear there is an option to clear the DNS cache in it.

Id try completely resetting the router to default
With it switched on keep the reset button pressed down (Its a tiny hole)
Reboot the lot, log back into the router (Remember it will be DEFAULT settings, even the password)
Put everything back to how it should be and reboot again
Hopefully it should be back to normal (Straight away if on virgin or after a couple of days if through a phoneline)

Great idea. I will give it a go!

I did a full reset a few days ago as aliEnRIK advised.

Sine then I have connected every time and not had any problems with pages loading.

Thanks again to aliEnRIK for your excellent help.
