  • hi everyone, it's fine to call me pru :)

katy, even though i've not posted i've been following your posts and really sorry to hear about what happened, i hope you are given lots of tlc.

we've had a manic weekend here with about 11 people over for dinner last night! spent this afternoon chilling out after a pub lunch with a book :)

i have a v rookie question - if your af starts gradually in dribs and drabs as it were, when do you count the first day of your period - the day when the "floodgates open" or the first day of any bleeding? sorry if tmi! just wondering when i should be testing... ta!
  • Hey all, 'tis very quiet here, but then I have nowt to report, bfn again this morning. Will wait another couple of days and test again. Bet AF shows up just before my swimming lesson

Booked our snowboarding holiday this afternoon though :D We're off to La Tania in January, and am so excited already! :j:j:j

pru- if "dribs and drabs" are normal for you pre-AF then count when they start as CD1, if they're not then wait til she makes a bigger appearance as CD1. And cooking for 11  You're a braver woman than I! Hope it was lovely, but sounds like you deserved to chill today!

    love and babydust ladies xx

  • Hello,
    can i join you please?

I'm almost 23 fell pregnant in december 2007 as a suprise, my bundle was born 30th august 2008 and is the best thing that ever happened to me. Changed my life forever and I'm so greatfull for him.

I've been with OH for 4 years and love him to bits.

We agreed after zachary was born that we wanted a nice big gap to make the most of zach and have some holidays but only recently did we talk about this and realised we don't want a big gap or holidays. We want a brother or sister to play with our munchkin and simple holidays in this country.

Before finding this site (which I found as a result of having zach and going to part time work down in wages by 10k a year:eek:!) I spent too much money and thought expensive things and holidays would make me happy. I now know that its the simple things in life and becoming more old style and frugal I am so much happier.

So anyway long intro over. Down to the nitty gritty. I've just come off my pill halfway thru the pack and got my period two days later. I've always had a regular period my whole life but no idea how long cycle is or anything so will find that out this month.

Am I able to start trying this month if i like? How would I go about this lol. that sounds silly i know roughly how. I just want to know how to maximise my chances because i know these things take time, unles your my mother who is super fertile and can't look at a man without being pregnant. I'm one of 5. What do people think is best? Every day around the time or just a couple of times around the time or every other day from 10 days in etc.

Look forward to getting to know you all!

    Welcome Kellylea!
Doctors would say to ensure you have sex at least 3 times per week. "Ms. Average" ovulates on day 14 (the 14th day after the period appears) but "Ms. Average" is only a best guess! You can't tell when you ovulate unless you take your basal body temperature (on waking every morning-requires a bit of commitment!) which shows the increased temperature cause by the progesterone released after ovulation.

You can however keep an eye on other fertility signs (like your cervical mucus for example) or use Ovulation Predicting Kits (OPKs) that detect the surge of LH (Luteinising Hormone) that directly precedes ovulation. You can then have more sex around that time to maximise your chances.

But, the best and most sane thing to do is have lots of regular sex, enjoy it (and your OH) and hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones who catches quickly and doesn't need to get bogged down with the ttc business ;)

sirmonster I stop myself testing by getting up for a wee when I wake and flushing my FMU ;)

I think I have just had implantation bleeding, either that or my period is a week early. I know you are not meant to test this early but I just drove in my PJs to the supermarket to buy a twin pack of tests. I did one and the blooming thing didn't work!!!! Now I am drinking water to test again! I know I should wait till the morning but I can't and if it is negative my other tests will arrive through the post later in teh week so I can test again if AF isn't here. Think I am going to burst!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • Well woke up this morning and looks like AF is here. What a very bizarre cycle - 37 days - that'll teach me to take ibuprofen the day before ov!

  • Katy big hugs to you and OH - so very sorry to hear your news.

AF arrived this morning so im out for this month. Not really much of a shock but still finding it upsetting. Fingers crossed DH is fit and healthy this month and we can actively ttc this month.

Hugs to everyone that needs them

Sticky baby dust to all xxxxxxx
