Thanks for your welcomes! I am sure I will have hundreds of questions! One thing I am unsure about, what foods/ drinks do you need to avoid? I know alcohol isnt good, and caffeine. But what else? Thanks!

Welcome, Kitkat, try having a look at this site. It's the electronic version of the book I was given by my GP. Should hopefully give you some info until you can see your own one or are given some more information.

This page in particular tells you what to avoid/what's good for you in terms of food/alcohol/medication etc. Hope that helps some.

Thanks for the advise, I am checking the sites out now. I wanted to go get some books from the library, but I cant chance being seem by someone I know (guarenteed to happen!) and as its so early I cannot risk it. Hav got a couple of books but they just say avoid alcohol and smoking, never smoked in my life so that helps, missing the drink at the mo but I will make all the sacrifices in the world for a healthy baby :)

MLSL, did your doc confirm how far gone you were and that everything was okay? I have seen a nurse but have been told they dont know everythings okay until 12 weeks :O that seems ages away! I kept worrying bout pains I was having but apparently its just heartburn and indigestion (never suffered with it before!) been taking rennies and they make me very sick!
My OH keeps teasing me saying how MASSIVE I will be, I am not too bothered really!

Ooh i wonder if they'll bring the bounty pack the next day for me or something since i'm having a HB (provided all goes well of course).

Had a sign of imminent labour tonight but i won't go into it in case anyone is having supper :rotfl: Could have just been the greasy food i had just now, my system seems to be working faster lately if anyone knows what i mean LOL.
  • I suffered an early miscarriage in October so I've had two blood tests to make sure my Hcg levels are going up, which they are & I'm getting a scan at 8 weeks. It might not feel normal to feel this bad but everyone thats been pregnant will assure you it's just the hormones and don't worry. Sometimes I feel really poorly, then I feel normal and nearly forget I'm pregnant, it's a minefield but just sit back and enjoy the ride ( in between throwing up ) and make sure OH spoils you
Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:
  • Beenie i've heard the MW's usually have one with them(bounty pack)

And i think i know what you mean, i've been getting jumbo packs of loo roll thanks to experience of Flushing body works in last PG,lol

  • I think more often than not, so long as you use trustworthy sites, you can find as much information as you need online now. That said, I bought this book a few weeks ago after being recommended it by someone at work and I've got to say, I found it really funny and quite reassuring. It is a little Americanised but for the most part it's quite easy to read.

As for when you'll find out if things are OK and confirm your dates, your GP will probably take a guess at it based on the first day of your last period if you've got that information, but unfortunately, it won't be confirmed until your 12 week scan. it does seem miles off (and I only just had mine a week and a bit ago).

On the topic of pains, just a warning that feeling like you're going to start your period and getting similar type cramps doesn't mean anything is wrong. It's just your uterus stretching and making room for a baby, after all, there's not much extra space in there! Of course, if you're bleeding heavily or they're really painful, or you just don't feel right about them either way, give your GP a call. I remember that being the one thing that really worried me for weeks and my GP was happy to reassure me if I thought things felt funny.

Otherwise, just try to enjoy it (as much as you can with sore boobs, nausea and all sorts of aches, pains and exhaustion!) until your scan. Baby will be better for you not worrying too much.

    evening all

have turned into a nocturnal creature this week, but managed a nap earlier on, well I say nap i basically fell asleep for 2 + hours LOL

I dont know if anyone else has had any experience of this, but im 14 weeks + and although I'd say my morning sickness has stopped (i.e im not vomitting or heaving) I constantly feel like theres a bit of something like food trapped at the back of my throat. I dont feel the need to cough but its almost like that bubble you get just before you know you're gonna throw up...
Sorry if my explanation is the oddest thing ever, its just really annoying me...

That and the fact that I dont seem to be able to eat very much..... its like i cant finish anything, went out for dinner friday night and had a smaller persons portion of cottage pie with chips and managed about half, and felt really awful afterwards.... and then today, was having sausage casserole with cous cous and managed about 8 mouthfuls....

    And I really like food!!!!
    GAH!!!
I dont know if im alone in having thought this, but if it wasnt for the fact that we're having a baby at the end of it, and we tried so hard to make it all happen, I'd be getting really depressed about it all right now.
Im fed up of having no energy and not being able to do anything, god knows how anyone who works full time copes, im just an absolute mess...

sorry for the rant ladies..... xx

CAFC, rant away ;) Sounds like you're getting the beginnings of reflux. I've had it really bad and was going through a large bottle of Peptac a week. A few times it was bad enough to make me vomit through the night which was like puking pure acid :rotfl:

I had had so much Peptac that it started to make me feel sick, as would too much of most things i think! Anyway if it carries on i'd get some gaviscon/peptac/whatever in liquid form, the chewables just didn't make any diff for me. But if it develops as mine did then there's tablets called Omeprazole which have totally made my life bearable again, and i haven't needed peptac since!

Have you moved up here to the land of sunshine yet? :rotfl:

yes im currently snuggled in our sort of rented room at my sisters. quite near the hospital, always helpful xx

god i just knew i wouldnt be one of the lucky women who just bloom. Bad enough that my hair and skin have gone to pot, nails have gone brittle, feel like total rubbish and cant eat.....
i didnt have any idea about reflux though, is it something that can be helped by changing your diet? Obv having MS meant i just ate whatever i could at the time, so im just wondering if ive upset my digestive system with it all

You have plenty of time to bloom, i am not sure if i've ever bloomed cos i don't have a complimentary OH to tell me i bloom hehe, but i deffo felt like complete crap til at least 20 weeks.

I found that cutting out/reducing bread worked for me, cos i was eating loads of toast cos it was bland and plain, but i didn't figure that out til it got really bad after 30 weeks ish. It's just trial and error really, if it's not too bad at the mo i would get some cheap heartburn tablets or liquid and see if it soothes it.

Ahh yeah it's not a huge town but i'm also close to the hospital, but i'm all set for a home birth now - argh!! Hope i don't go way overdue and need inducing now. I only switched to a HB a few days ago so wouldn't be too gutted if i had to have her in hospital, but not fancying an induction they're meant to be more painful
