Collected my free Boots changing bag last night; it isn't too bad. It seems HUGE though but I have no idea how big a changing bag is tho :rotfl:still fancy the Paul Frank one tho
but OH told me to get this for now as its FREE and maybe if we have any money left wen we bought baby stuff get one (although judging by my trusty spreadsheet of items I need/ want its not looking good, as they come to a huge sum without even allowing for pram/ cot!)
Have found a changing unit in work tho that I can have for £15 that is solid wood with shelves, pretty much same as toys r us onesv MSE :money:
Guna try looking on ebay, and bootsales; there are some items that i just have to hav, and i think buying new might be too expensive. I really want a bouncy chair that plays music and vibrates, and a automatic swing (I blame u lot for this as u ravved about them now I MUST have one!) :rotfl:
Just got my free Sainsburys thing to collect (have no idea wot is it!) when buying nappies so I will get that Tues, am waiting for my Tescos voucher  grr they're taking their time!0 -

Right, after last nights minor tizz, I've had a think about what we actually need to get for bubs. Anything with a (?) next to it means I'm not sure if it's needed or not. Here goes:
*Cot
*Mattress
*Bedding
*Baby swing
*Furniture (wardrobe, drawers, chair maybe)
*Sleeping bags
*Pram
*Car seat
*Nappies (disposable & reusable [hoping to go on to reusables])
*Wipes
*Bath (probably get a new washing up bowl or something for this)
*Fire guard
*Door gate
*Crib or moses basket (?)
*Breast pump & bottles (?)
*Steriliser (?)
*Monitor (?)
Wow, sorry for the length, but what do other people think? Any must-haves I've forgotten?
Quite a lot of this can easily be bought 2nd hand (car boots start at Easter). I'm not sure about a monitor, but we have 2 moggies, who I don't want to be sleeping with bubs, but if I shut the door we might not hear bubs.

Kiddicare.com have an Easter sale on just now, you might be able to get some bits on sale from them if there were things you wanted specifically 'new' eg Car seat.
*Nappies (disposable & reusable [hoping to go on to reusables])
*Wipes
*Bath (probably get a new washing up bowl or something for this)
*Fire guard Not sure if this is across the country, but my local area have a scheme whereby they come out to your house, assess what you need safety wise and arrange for it all to be fitted for you. We were in a house when dd arrived and needed fire guard and two stair gates which were supplied and fitted free. Also, new smoke alarms fitted as well! I'm sure it was through the health visitor, not sure what the scheme's called or infact who 'they' are! lol
*Door gate
*Crib or moses basket (?)
I didn't bother with either for my first two and not bothering this time again, bubs will likely sleep in the pram during the day and cot at night so didn't see need.
*Breast pump & bottles (?)
I got the Avent Isis pump which i had last time and thought it was great, have about 6 bottles but prob wont need all of them, although handy if moving onto formula later in the year.
*Steriliser (?)
Will definately need for the pump and bottles if you decide to use - also, dummies are supposed to be sterilised if you are planning on using them - I have a cold water one, fill with water and a couple of tablets every 24hours and just chuck the dummies in, rinse in cooled boiled water and ready to go.
*Monitor (?)
I've not bothered with this but in a flat and not really any point as we'll always be close enough to hear. But might be an idea considering the concern you have for the cats too.
.
Something other people advise is muslin squares along with bibs - I only ever used bibs but hearing some of the advice on here re muslin squares, i'm gonna invest in some and see how it goes!
Lloyds pharmacy have Sudocreme on offer at the moment - it was always my cream of choice for sore bums, cheap zinc and caster oil cream for normal days tho.
hope this helps!

*Furniture (wardrobe, drawers, chair maybe) Not needed straight away

*Wipes
*Bath (probably get a new washing up bowl or something for this)
*Fire guard Not needed until baby can crawl
*Door gate
*Crib or moses basket (?) def will need one or other m/b cheaper but crib lasts longer
*Breast pump & bottles (?) a small supply to see which you are going to do
*Steriliser (?) Bootsale £1/£2
*Monitor (?) again bootsale/ebay a few quid

This is just my 2ps worth
maybe some newborn clothing a couple of vests & sleepsuits to get you started, a playmat for tummytime ( esp if you have dogs, I;m thinking easy to put away and keep dog hair free ), a sling for handiness, changing bag
This is along the lines I'm thinking, Hope this helps MLSLBusy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0 -
Ok, it's officially my last day and am probably going to leave the office in an hour or so. Can't believe I won't be coming back until NEXT YEAR! I think it's just all hit me at once. Thankfully my other half is taking me out to dinner to celebrate, so I have something to look forward to, as I think I'll feel a little bit sad. Not for long though….yipeeeee!:j
Choccybikkie/MGEB - You are very welcome - it looks like you've used your experiences in a really positive way - to build strong relationships with your own partners/families x
MSL - if you feel like you need a break from work, then you should definitely try and arrange it. You probably spend more of your waking hours at work than anywhere else, and if it's making you feel stressed then it can't be doing you any good. I don't think I realised that there are more important things than work until I got pregnant (and I'm certainly not a career girl), but it certainly puts things into perspective!
Right, now to prepare myself for leaving the office. I hope I can creep out without having to say too many goodbyes in case I start crying! Planning a busy weekend - have to pack the hospital bags this weekend, and should I be getting measured for nursing bras as I'm 36 weeks? Eeek!

Definitely try ebay for those sort of things and search by distance, as it's often the postage that works out expensive - I've just managed to get a vibrating/music playing bouncy chair that;'s meant to be barely used for £7.50, which I'm really delighted about - new, it's supposed to be about £45, and you can only use them until the baby can sit unaided which won't be that long. I'm picking it up at the weekend.Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'
