That's extremely rubbish MM. I'd be furious too.

Awww SS thats not good hun! What have they messed up this time?

He was supposed to have a CT scan today with contrast fluid to do a full abdominal check, and to have his tube replaced and repositioned. So he went in at 9am having fasted 12 hours expecting his scan to be immediate. Their protocol says an outpatient can't have this scan, so he needed to be in a bed. But there wasn't one, and eventually they found one - in the middle bed in a 3 bed room between two dying, senile, doubly incontinent old men. He wasn't happy but agreed - then they took him down for his scan around noon (15 hours fasting by this stage) and left him sitting there in his paper gown and bed till 4pm (19 hours). Then they didn't do the contrast bit and did a regular X-ray instead, because the technician wasn't told it was a pre-surgical scan but just a checkup. So the surgeon couldn't do the replace/reposition because the Xray isn't clear at all and he'd have just been randomly poking about in there.

In the meantime, they failed to order him any dinner and threw away his lunchtime sandwich. By this time it was 6pm (21 hour fast) and he told them he needed food to take his antibiotic. He's on hardcore anti-b because he has an open tube directly into his abdominal cavity. But since the anti-b was prescribed as outpatient, and he is now inpatient, they refused to give it to him. He's also on no pain relief at all despite being in serious amounts of pain.

Phew, that was long. But I've known (or been ;) ) four people who've had dealings with the German hospital system. I had an emergency C-section because the incompetent midwives failed to give me a catheter to drain the 6-8 litres of liquid that had gone into me; a friend's partner died neglected; my friend was sent home from hospital with a leak in her amniotic fluid and her newborn is in NICU with ear, eye, stomach and blood infection; and this.

Urm the tree isn't too bad, im going to buy new lights then will decorate the tree again, it's a cruddy tree about 10 year old, it's getting thrown out this year. I'll get more red for the tree, so red and silver. I don't have many decorations as only been here 2 Xmas' and the 1st one we were super poor!

Think me and Bop will make some paper chains and hang a few on the tree, I want the garish red and gold tinsel type things for the roof haha. I'll bung some tinsel round some stuff and get something for the middle of the table.

Might get some giant plastic santa and snowman faces and stick them in the hallway walls lol.

Sami I like the idea of that log!!

Me and Keira are away for a nap, if I hear her say I want to watch humf one more time, I'm going to stuff her in a santa sack. Ive lost her santa sack from last year actually.

SS - Come home and get him seen over here, what a joke.
There is Fairfield Independent Hospital in Crank, St Helens or Spire Cheshire in Warrington. Spire used to be BUPA.
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?

SS, I take it there is a hospital close to your parents (or his) and you will come over too?

Technically MM we can, but obviously we'd rather not. He's at the hospital I work in (my department is obviously much better organised...) and we were supposed to get a huge chunk off the total bill because I work there (normally insurance would pay but he doesn't have any). However, administration have decided that this isn't appropriate and so we have to pay the full amount, over €8000 not including the last ten days of inpatient care and today. If we're paying this absurd amount, we may as well have him in a private facility and not one staffed by Keystone Kops.

Tia, I limped out of hospital gritting my teeth and holding back tears because they wouldn't let me go till I could walk out carrying my baby. It's an incredible incentive to get well.

Thanks Glam - Fairfield is close to my parents so he's calling them in the morning. They offer an up-front, one-charge sort of deal which is wonderful.
