Endsleigh Comprehensive Car Insurance - Not Very Comprehensive

  • Just a small update to this. When Endsleigh originally refused cover, I wrote here and I also tweeted my feelings about it on Twitter. Many companies police Twitter for complaints and openly address them there, usually to the customer's benefit. So it's a good idea to do it.

I didn't think Endsleigh were social media aware, they are it turns out, if a bit tardy. I got this response on Twitter 3 days after I originally tweeted.

"Sorry to see you have concerns over our cover. Our Ade in Customer Care would like to help (ask for him) on 08000858698"

It's a shame they don't spend more time training their staff...contributers on MSE know their cover better than their staff.
  • The garage have looked at the car and the repair bill is £4,300 + VAT

My mate filled his 330d up with unleaded but fortunately realised before driving off. We pushed it off the forecourt and were going to get recovery until a mechanic pulled over who knew a lot more about it than us.

He proceeded to drain the unleaded out (via a pipe and his mouth!) and said the unleaded would not have mixed with the diesel as it had not been driven. He seemed to know from the taste once he'd got all the unleaded out!

He was happy enough to keep the drained unleaded for his motocross bikes and my mate refilled with diesel and all was well.

He got rid of that 330d soon after come to think of it

    How come everyone's an expert?

This guy would have happily settled for £4k to fix his wife's BMW - cost him £6k, and he's not even stupid!

    Read the bit about flushing?
Not an expert but had 2 of our company diesel vans filled with unleaded and driven for a short distance. Both were CDI's , both were flushed, cost £250 and no ongoing problems 12 months later.
OP says it was driven for approx 100 yards.
  • I know a similar item has been flagged, but after Philip Schofield wrote on Twitter about him doing the very same thing, he was recommended this:

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_718451_langId_-1_categoryId_226201

It'd definitely stand out at the forecourt!
  • get a pringles lid, write diesel on it, then put it over your fuel cover

(this is assuming you have a fuel flap with a cap behind it)
