I thought it was just me. Yes, I use Egg Money Manager and was locked out. Because there is only a Poppy Bond in there at the moment, and the other 2 accounts have a £1 in, I wasn't too bothered, as there's no activity going on, so to speak. Sometimes with EMM, e.g. you can't use it for Barclays, as you have to now use the card reader each time and likewise because I don't have a mobile, I have to use a different process to access Abbey.
Thanks for putting me in the picture.0 -
I've just spoken to CS at Coventry and said the problem is not at their end. It's been discussed with their Technical team , they've investigated it and they haven't changed anything, so therefore by default he believes it is with Egg.
Has anyone contacted them about it yet?0 -
I use www.accountunity.com
They are the company that supply the software behind egg money manager and first directs offering.
When I attempt to log in to Coventry BS it gets as far as the login page but doesn't enter the data. I can then enter password etc manually.
All worked ok until this past week. I suspect something has changed on the Coventry website but it is a very subtle change.0 -

Yes I contacted Egg this morning via secure message. Expect an answer in 24 hours, but like I said above Coventry have warned against EMM and the like and say unless you delete Coventry from it then the problem will happen again.0 -
Well I don't use Egg Money Manager. My Coventry log-in bombed out when I intended to click 'Next' and clicked 'Forgetten Web ID' by mistake. That took me to a page where I was invited to send my name & details to request a new ID - which, of course I didn't need. So I went back to log-in again so I could click 'Next' this time and it wouldn't let me. So mine bombed out at the 1st failed attempt - not the 3rd.
Lesson - don't click the wrong button; there's no 2nd chance!0 -

In 99% of cases the chances are that for some reason you are (i.e. your PC is) sending incorrect data and it will fail for the 3rd time.
What I do instead is close everything, switch PC off &/or restart, and THEN try again. It's always worked for me
(I suppose some would say you should clear your cookies as well :undecided )".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
Coventry log-in OK for me. I don't use Egg. I have loads of other online accounts none of which are similar to Coventry, except the requirement of many for entering DOB using dropdowns.0

This has happened to both my account and my wife's, using FirstDirect IB+ services. There's no possibility of password/personal data error as they haven't been changed in the FD IB+ software, so it seems that it's a weakness in the Coventry's logon procedure.
It's all very well saying "don't keep trying", but the FD service offers an "update all my accounts" button, which is more than likely pressed more than once if one particular institution fails to answer.0 -
Just spoken to EMM team and logged the Coventry problem on my account. They are aware of it and a similar problem with other banks and are "working on it."
The guy didn't know specifically, but it would be helpful if you also ring them. The more noise you make, the more they realise the number of people who are affected.0 -

Reckon this proves Coventry were right when they said it was only a problem for EMM and First Direct users. I am still awaiting Egg to reply to my message from yesterday but will not hold my breath for a quick solution. They have had a problem with RBS and NatWest for weeks now but at least with them it did not cause a lock out when using their websites directly. Do not think I will carry on using EMM for much longer and will try Keepass. Anybody now locked out from Coventry is stuck for a while until they get and validate the new password.0
