    Level 27!!! That's dedication BB!
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T
  • no - we're not friends. If you are friends with bunny, jacs, toto, snaggles, bank of slate, squizz, buffy, I_A, Maz, ginger ste (and quite a few others!!!), look for the black and white profile pic with an irish sounding surname beginning with 'F' ;)

ooooooh, I thought you had a real cat - I've just realised it is a Farmville one? Exciting - not seen them yet! :D

I think I've got you now. Same surname as a singer?

I have been asleep for most of the day!!

LGMM,I am aiming to stay in teaching for another 2 years, the pay is good but like BB says the hours you do that you don't paid for are the killer as is the endless paperwork and pressure of Ofsted.

All my friends who work in "normal" jobs who now get paid maybe a bit less then me can go out doing the week can go away for weekends on the spur of the moment can pop to the shops after work can have a lunch break don't have to worry if they out on the town that the kids might see them on a Saturday night.

I have said I would never recommand teaching to anyone and I won't. Yes the kids are great but ultimately 90% of the job is hard gut wrenching slog just to stay on top of things it never lets up and the way most schools monitor things now its like being permanmently on Ofsted.

I'll admit I have a nutter for a boss and my place is a bit special! but the vast majority of my teaching friends work under similarly circumstances. The pressure is constant.

I think the people at my place who survive are those who enjoy the pressure, who enjoy the mad "panics"to finish things, the impossible deadlines and who want to please. they don't have kids or especially commimtent heavy relationships, they have no hobbies and no free time. THey are pleased to come in and say I was up till X last night- they think its an acceptable way to live.

    I don't.

sorry to be so negative, I just think there are easier ways to work with kids - mostly teaching now you work with paper/forms.

    Nevertheless she persisted.

  • @ Buffy - Fair enough. I just don't know what to do with my life and I'm running out of time to find out. I finish uni this June and then I'll have to get a job and I have no idea what I want to do, let alone what I'd be qualified to do. I know I want to make a difference to someone's life, maybe work in a charity but other than that, I'm clueless.

I think FE is a little easier in terms of pressure from a teaching point of view I teach 24 hours but get 12 hours prep time, lessons are 3 hours long though which is a bit of a biatch.

I still dont know what I want to do with my life and approacing 40 that is pretty scary, I cant see myself teaching the same subjects forever but I cannot imagine not doing some element of teaching in my job role I guess that teacher training is something I am interested in.

God knows where I will end up:rolleyes:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

You could always do a fully funded PGCE for 1 year, you will get 2 placements 1 in a school and 1 in a college so you get chance to see which one is for you. Depending on your subject area you will get a golden hello in your second year of practice.

I mentor PGCE students on their placements and it is not unusual for trainee teacher to change their minds from wanting to teach in schools to FE and vice versa.

Enough of my sensible head.......................Xfactor results at 8pm:T
