Yesterday in my local Castlepoint I picked up 3 of these which were £5 each on a 3 for 2 offer.
When being scanned they came up at 0.01p each the cashier would not sell them to me,
was she right in doing that? I didn't make a scene should I off ???? xx

Yup she was right most likely.
And no you should never make a scene , wont get you ANYWHERE.0 -
There could be a reason for them going down to 1p (e.g. out of date, recalled batch) and they were on the shelf by mistakeSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

They were probably supposed to be £1 and had been entered incorrectly into the till system. If they were M&S I wouldn't have thought they were a recalled batch, more likely to just be last season's colours or something like that.0

Some stores reduce items to 1p when there is a problem with them, to alert the cashier.0

Where I used to work, they become penny stock when they were end of line and due to be returned to the supplier. If any found its way onto the shop floor by mistake the sale was refused and they were taken to the stockroom.
Accept that mistakes happen, what with the 1001 other jobs that shop workers have to do.0 -

Interesting Sarah - will remember that as was not aware"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

We go the other way...if an item is quarantined, it goes to £8888.88. Which normally avoids people buying themSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

But wont that make a hell of a mess with your stock holding?
It was penny stock where I worked because even if it was 1000 items, that only meant it showed up as £10 of "dead" stock on the system.0 -
It means they went into last years sales and were down to the lowest selling point, she couldnt of sold them as 0.01p but they'll either reappear at the next lot of sales for 25p or sent back to the supplier.
It also happens when people try to return items that have been in the sales and when returned weeks after the sales they appear in the till as 0.01p and cant be returned- without receipt unless faulty xx0
