sounds like it works on the same principle as Triple Dry. I find I can cope with the initial run of four days without breaking out in too much of a rash and then only having to use it once a week is OK I don't get so itchy as I used to.

DH would tell me pretty quickly if it wasn't effective so I'm confident about this method
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

    Hi all

I have been reading on this site about wonderful properties of ammonia a lot.

I’ve had this most economical and fragrance free deodorant for ages

    http://www.thinkandhealonline.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=195

Apparently the ingredients have got some ammonia salt  .

I thought I would share this one with you.

P.S.: I got my deodorant from Holland & Barret about two years ago and am still using it.

I use a crystal deodorant as I find it less irritating. Mine is not the same brand but the last one lasted me 2 years:p

It's not as effective as a full on anti-persperant but I do agree about it being very cheap and economical. It's great for everyday but I'm not sure it's powerful enough for sportsmen for example.

I had one of these and it was great but a week after I bought it, I dropped it and it shattered :(

I wondered about this ammonia Alum stuff and found this http://www.greenpeople-organic-health.co.uk/Organics_Features_Deodorants.htm

it makes for interesting reading. How effective are they?
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

    RacyRed: How effective are they?

I suppose it depends on a person, but the deodorant works very well for me. I use it daily on washed skin. Occasionally I would wear some fragrances (being very tight and poor, I use those little freebie samples).

The result, err… there are a few people in my office who smell, and I am sure they are using just ordinary aerosols.

On a different note, I quite like the fact that the crystal is eco friendly.

    Sorry for the rumblings. :o

I recently purchased a 'Pit Rock' from Asda and have found it to be very effective. It was about £5 but if it does last 12 months, it should prove to be moneysaving.

I've looked into these crystal deodorant products myself, and they sound good, but can anyone who uses/has used one tell me- do they prevent 'wet patches' under the arms like an anti-perspirant does, or only deodorise way the offensive smell of sweat? (so you still get the wet patches on your tee-shirts, right? :o )

you still get wet patches as they are only deodorants - hence my comment about prob not suitable for keen sports people

Cheers mamaoba. Just wanted to get an opinion before I splashed out on a fiver to try for myself.
I wouldn't call myself a keen sporty type, but it can get a bit warm on the wards, and wouldn't fancy any wet patches cropping up.
