I could be wrong but from the OPs previous posts about 0% credit card I think they spent the money because they were going to then use the credit card? But now the 0% offer has finished so they wouldnt be able to do that?0 -
It seems quite obvious what has happened.
Instead of giving them your old car ("worth" £1600), they were expecting you to now pay cash (given you'd sold it for cash...).
The rest of the finance was as previously agreed.
So, the sales guy forgot to ask you for the cash bit, which he's now realised.
I think this is quite clear cut, as the price you agreed with them is NOT what you have paid, so you do owe them this money.
