Make me Prime Minister and I'll outlaw touting. And I'll ban those scumbag at Ticketmaster from adding surcharges galore.

Its so easy to do - Name and address on ticket - entry with ticket and ID. Or for events where tickets and ID may be a problem - upload a small photo to be printed on the tickets.

Now I will need to pay double the flipping price!

So you'll buy them from a tout ? If the touts didn't know they could sell tickets to people like you then they wouldn't buy them in the first place.

Either don't encourage them, or don't complain when they buy tickets ahead of you...

I am actually so mad at ticketmaster and ticketsoup right now. Their whole service towards the purchase of tickets is a disgrace!

I was up and online to buy standing tickets for gaga at 9am - which went on sale at 8.57! So buy 9am when I tried for tickets all were sold out :@

Now I look on ebay and people have like 20 for sale at £80 each when they were £35!

    So dissapointed and mad :@

Can you supply the ebay link of the person with 20 for sale ?
  • I have some tickets on sale (not for this event!) on ebay at the moment and the whole process has been a nightmare.

Basically I bought tickets as a present for someone but unknown to me they had already bought tickets for the event. No problem I thought I will sell them on ebay so I listed them using the auction style selling, with the starting price for the face value of the tickets.

However, when I was talking to someone from the venue, they told me that if I sold the tickets for more than their face value, they had the right (as per their t&c) to cancel the tickets. As no-one was watching / bidding on the tickets I wasn't particulary worried.....until I had 2 watchers!

I then contacted the venue, explained the situation and said that if the tickets should be sold for more than the face value, could I refund the difference and still remain within their t&c. I was told that the only proof they had was the final advertised bid so it would be assumed that's how much I was paid for.

So I've had to cancel that particular auction and re-list it as a buy-it-now jsut to keep in line with their t&cs.

the point that I am making is that if more venues did this then ticket touts would soon be put out of business - but there again if people refused to buy these tickets then the same would apply.

personally i don't mind buying tickets from touts, Coldplay at Old Trafford were £45 a ticket, plus the ticket master extra charges put the price up to something like £53 each. Turning up outside i got 2 standing tickets off a tout for just £30 each. Its the venues fault as they never take returns. If they did then spare tickets would often be returned to the box office and wouldn't end up in the hands of touts outside the gig. I often have to take a loss by selling a ticket to a tout outside as someone can't make the gig

I have purchased tickets for a number of different concerts, U2 and Bon Jovi for example. If you know there's a tour, its good to register on the bands website, and keep an eye on the "fan forums"...you will usually find they advise their registered members of a "pre sale" and that usually includes ticketmaster...then all you need is a "password" and thats where checking the fan forums comes in handy.

For previous 2sell out" concerts...it can be as simple as a name of a track on a CD...but like all these things...the early bird..etc...etc

    this may be useful

I think you will find that the t+c's for all ticket sites will state that tickets are non transferable. Its just they don't really have anyway of enforcing the terms as its hard to prove that you didn't buy the tickets directly from them the way things are at the moment.
