Please does anyone know if a provisional driving licence can be used as photo ID when opening a bank account, or does it need to be a full licence ?

A provisional photo licence should be fine.
A provisional paper licence isn't fine.
Check the web site of the company that you are taking the product out with to make sure though.0 -
its a valid photo id for the purposes of identification, if it has your DOB, address on it like the full license.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

Please note that Natwest/RBS don't accept provisional driving licence as ID. The others do.
If you are going to Natwest/RBS, then use another form of photo ID, or don't go there to open a bank account.
If you open a bank account with Barclays, a drivers licence on it's own is fine.0 -
thanks for that book12, it was originally natwest I wanted to open a savings account with, as that is where my business account is held, however I will now look further afield.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

They must have changed it at RBS/Natwest. I used to work for them and they used to take a provisional photo license as ID.
I opened my staff account using that.0 -

You're welcome.
You could open a savings account through online banking, assuming you have a Step or Current Plus (or another type of bank account) with Natwest. I think when opening savings account though online banking, you get the account opened immediately with account details. This has happend to me, but not with Natwest though. However, you could try it out.
The savings interest rate in other banks are better than Natwest anyway. They must have changed it at RBS/Natwest. I used to work for them and they used to take a provisional photo license as ID.

Yes, the have changed it. http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g2/id-required.ashx
I don't understand why they won't accept provisional driving licence as ID though.0 -
Just read the website I posted above ^, you could use a provisional driving licence if you are under 20. If you are not under 20, you can't use it. It depends how old you are.
Just curious, do you have a passport?0 -
