stiffnuts69, Ahrimaniac, Bextex, I want you all to read the following very carefully:
A great man died. As a reward for the great deeds he performed during his lifetime he was given a special reward: after being taken to both places he was going to be allowed the choice of going either to heaven or to hell.
First he went to hell. There he saw a great hall with trestles arranged neatly. On the trestles were tablecloths and the most magnificent spread of the most scrumptious foods he had ever seen. But everybody looked miserable.
"What's the problem?" asked the great man. "I would have thought that with all these foods, everybody would be happy."
"It is the rule here that we must eat this food with chopsticks that are two metres long. We can't get the food into our mouths, so we can't feed ourselves."
Then the great man was shown heaven. But it was exactly the same, even down to the two-metre chopsticks - except that everybody was happy.
"This is the same as hell," said the great man. "Why are you so happy if you have to eat with chopsticks that are too long?"
An inhabitant of heaven answered: "We feed each other."To buy or not to buy, need not be in question

You feed BT the money you owe, they feed you a telephone service. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
'Haven't grasped it, have you?'
Your pompous comparison tale - you're getting at the fact that it would be excellent if we'd all leapt to your defence and claimed outrage at BT for taking a legitimate charge. However, we haven't, because it is a fair charge, and you're just trying to be a sponger.Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -

I feed BT the extra £5. I correspond with Sir Christopher Bland. I complain to Offcom and anybody else who will listen. I write to member of parliament, local peer of the realm, members of the royal family.
It costs BT at least £50,000 to see this lot off - and there may be other repercussions.
Bex Tech and co get a higher invoice than usual.
Whatever "a life" is, I live it on my feet, not on my knees. To buy or not to buy, need not be in question

So, you've held a grudge for 21 years.Stratford_Bill wrote:Direct debit is our of the question. I had a huge company raid my bank account - cleaned it out completely - back in 1985. And you should have heard their attitude when I rang them up about it. "Oh, we'll just hang onto it and knock it off your next bill." I have not paid anyone by direct debit since. Now what was the name of that company? BB? No, that can't be right. TB? No, it couldn't be that...
Well done.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I'm going to put the arguing down to the heat and close the thread as it appears that Stratford Bill has gone down all the routes available to him and arguing on MSE is not going to get the latement fee withdrawn
