If I preload it, will I pay any withdrawal fees at ATM's in Thailand?
Thanks
Is there a charge for using my account abroad?
When you use Egg Money to pay for anything in a foreign currency, there's a charge of 2.65%. This charge is added to your purchase amount, so it doesn't appear separately on your statement. To keep things simple, everything is automatically converted into sterling when it's shown on your statement.
There is no cash advance fee, but I suspect they will still impose the 2.65% foreign currency charge."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

Hi,
Hoping someone could help me here...
I'm going to Italy next week and would like to take some Euros. I'm thinking of purchasing from the post office since its most convenient for me.
The question is, can anyone tell me if the post office will buy back any Euro's i have left over?
EDIT: Just read the small print and they will buy back. Does anyone know if their buy back rate is competitive? I can only find one rate, GBP to EUR (1.4141). Do they use the same rate when buying back.. EUR to GBP?
Thanks.. anyone please help!0 -
hass anybody heard of crown currency exchange of cornwall they offer daily rates on most currencies but to get the best rate you have to book well in advance. When i rang them up they do not take any cards only cheques or bank transfer anybody had any dealings with them , as once parted with the money thats it for several months and no back up as no card protection to fall back on if they go bust!0

The exception (that I'm aware of) is Travelex who will offer you the option of "Buy Back Plus" for £3.50 - this allows you to change unused currency back into sterling at the original exchange rate.
You would obviously have to be taking a lot of money overseas, and bringing a lot of it back, to make this worthwhile.0 -
Can I just say, for the benefit of anyone in Brighton or the surrounding area looking for a good exchange, there is a little unassuming place called the Coin Shop on SHip St (just off North St) near TK Maxx and Picasso restaurant.
They seem to do currency for a lot better rate than any of the banks or travel agencies in that area (including the post office over the road). They don't do travellers cheques though (even though they have a a massive 5' long one stuck to the front of their counter  ).
Hope that helps someone.0 -
Looking to change between £3,000-£4,000 into mostly Dollar Travellers Cheques and about 25% into $ Notes, who is offering best deals? and how long in advance to order? cheers.0

Hi
Were looking at going to Florida end of September.
Whilst the dollar is at a weak point i figured maybe now was as a good a time as any to convert the spending money!
Just a couple of question,
Am i right in thinking now is a good time to convert? Or should i wait?
My only concern if i convert for cash now
1. i wont earn interest on cash as it aint in the bank (small concern!)
2. cash aint in bank! (not secure and dont fancy $5000 laying around the house.
Lastly reading through your guys posts Travelex seem to be the best bet and try to get them to pricematch if someone maybe is beating them.
Would they hold they money till September when i buy now? Solving the point where i dont want cash lying around!!
Thanks0 -
