Its been asked soo, soo many times, where is the best place to get holiday money?

I know there are articles about holiday money, etc, however I thought I would write a little list of my top choices:

    1. Nationwide Debit Card for ATM withdrawals from destination country / Nationwide Credit Card for purchases in destination country (but watch out for Dynamic Currency Conversion).

    2. Any other debit card for ATM withdrawals from destination country / any other credit card for purchases in destination country (but for both CHECK T&C's to see exact charges).

    3. Thomas Exchange Global in central London: www.thomasexchangeglobal.co.uk

    4. Travelex online: www.travelex.co.uk (remember Travelex will price match any other exchange service)

    5. Marks and Spencer

    6. Thomson Travel (they seem to use Amex as their travel money provider): http://www.thomson.co.uk/po/showEsse...o?essential=fx

    7. Co-op Travel (they use Curreny Express / Exchange and offer free delivery for orders over £300):
    https://www.currency-express.com/cooptravelshop/

    8. Online FX (their rates probably look higher than the others, but do watch, as they charge £4.95 for delivering the currency): http://www.onlinefx.co.uk/

    9. Post Office

With 3 - 9, if you are paying with debit / credit card check your T&C's as many providers charge for the priviledge of using money exchange services.

:money: This guy knows what hes talking about just got thomas exchange rate through travelex without waiting for the post man to arrive. They really do match the higher rate of others just follow instructions on their site. Travelex got back to me wihin 5 minutes of me sending them an email and are sending a cheque for the difference in exchange rates. Thanks Pin!

I spoke to Barclays on the phone last week. I was told there is no charge for using my barclays connect card in shops restaurants etc abroad can anyone confirm this?

The only charge might be if I draw out cash and then the bank I withdraw from can/will impose their own charge!
  • Hi all
I'm going to turkey in on 1st September (just over 2 weeks) and was wondering weather to get travellers cheques and change them when i get there or exchange my money over here, also i have herd that they take sterling, should i take some sterling with me. please can anyone out there give me some advice
  • I have agreed a cash deal in Spain to have a pool and one or two other extras built into an offplan house purchase. I would like to convert the Sterling in my hand from selling my car to Euros and take them over with me later this month. What is my best exchange option, bearing in mind it concerns me not knowing how much information Spanish Banks impart back to the U.K. By the way I am buying the house using regular channels i.e HIFX transfer into my Spanish bank account, and I am comfortable with the capital sum going through the Bank, but as we all know cash is king for the extras!.....or am I just being paranoid?
I live in the Midlands so London would be tricky unless there was a real benefit.

M&S better than PO for simple holiday exchanges. Small notes easily available as well.

Best of all...if you have a M&S &More card...you can get your holiday on it with no fee and up to 56 days interest free as well!
    Can't say fairer than that!
