Company charged me for no item

Hi I need a little bit of advice from you guys. I'm a student so I don't have much money. I ordered something online and then a day later I got an email saying the order was cancelled and I will not be charged. However checking my bank today it seems they have took the cash from my bank.

They cancelled the item and put it up in price expecting me to pay more.

What can I do to get my cash back.

Thanks :confused::confused:

  • I suppose what i'd do is either give them a ring in the morning or email customer services if it is a big company.

Am not very good with legal rights and stuff but if you search the board I bet there's a thread on consumer rights and how to get money back!
  • The website was amazon but it was a company called awd-it.co.uk that sold the item in amazons site
  • I think then it should be pretty easy to get your money back from amazon. Hae you been on the website and looked at the Help section?
  • Yes I've sent an email but no reply so I decided to post here as I know there are experienced people here

Amazon are not responsible for items purchased from a third-party seller unless it was an Amazon fulfilled product. Any dispute needs to be resolved between the OP and the seller, Amazon will not get involved.

Third party sales on marketplace are covered under Amazons A-Z agreement. Phone Amazon customer services and explain what has happened .

The only thing i owuld query here though is the status of the order. The new market place system does not charge a buyers card until the item is shipped, has the money actually gone from your account or just 'held' and if it has gone what si the current status of your order?

Amazon handle the money side of all the sales and guarantee refunds for items that do not arrive.

    "Dear Customer,

    Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

I’ve checked your account and can see that you might have already received an e-mail from us regarding the status of your order #********

The payment card was declined for this order and it has been cancelled following attempts to re-charge your card.

Here are the details of the payment card that we have been unable to charge successfully:

Unfortunately, a bank won’t inform us why they have declined a card, they simply reject the charge when we seek approval.

Moreover I would again like confirm that you are not charged for this order as your credit card was declined during charge attempts.

If you would still like to order this item we invite you to return website and place a new order, using a different card or payment method.

They ask me to order again but have put the price up to £87.

What should I do now to get my money back

Did the payment bounce because there wasn't enough money, or because they put the price up beyond what you had in your account?
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.
  • I had enough money in my account.
    "Dear Customer,

We're writing to inform you that your order ********1 from ADMI
    Limited has been cancelled
by the seller with the following reason: -

    .

They cancelled it charged me £51 and then put the product price up to £87

As you see the reason they gave was a dot

Amazon are saying that they haven't taken payment. You are saying that they have which leads me to think that your bank has made a mistake somewhere.

Have you spoken to your bank to query the debit?
