What a lovely family you have! Sounds like you are very organised and how exciting about getting the keys.
I don't blame you about the sofas, we are waiting for 8 weeks and that is bad enough for me, with a bump you would def want somewhere to sit.0 -
Oh and we saw that about Harveys on watchdog, how awful. I would never shop with them after seeing that. DFS are really good, and they have some lovely sofas, probably a longer waiting time but they do some great offers.

Well what a nightmare we've been having!
We got the keys on saturday as planned...went to the house and the broken washing machine was still sat there in the kitchen. So we called back the agency that said landlord said the person couldnt take the washing machine friday but will be back for it monday. If we dont want him coming in to take it out ourselves and leave on the front garden.
OK fair enough...
We went upstairs and saw two padlocks had bee put on the bolts to the loft when we ws told we have loft space....This locks werent on there when we viewed so these were obviuosly just put on and im wondering whether he put the table and chairs and tv he asked to be removed up there? Anyway, i dont think we will need loft space but still!
Then we looked around the kitchen the oven was black!!!!! black shelfs, black door...just thick with grease never been cleaned by the look of things.
All the drawers had rusty rings and dirt in them. The fridge smelt a bit inside and the microwave phew!!! Its stinks of fish we lifted the plate up and its all gone rusty and smelly.
The curtains in the living room were black at the tops too.
BUT all those we can get clean. worst thing is the front door!!! OMG.
Its not a proper extrenal door! We have found the same door in wickes and its a side gate door! Its like tongue and groove pine SOFTWOOD door and we're pretty sure he has fitted it himself as when locked from outside we can wobble the door back and forth about a 1cm or more. Plus the actual door lock wobbles on the inside of the door. Its just a normal lock and a chubb lock. The door must be not even 1cm thick. Yes it is braced on the back of the door but the middle panels are so so thin anyone could just punch a hole int he door.
We called the agency about it as we havent even moved in yet because its not secure. They have been trying to get hold of the landlord since monday but his not answering his phone!!! They even said they need to get hold of him themselves as he hasnt given them his bank details so they can pay in our rent to him! I duno whats going on there! his only 30 and its his first time as a landlord.
We need to move in as thats £150 down the drain on rent when we havent even been living there!
Anyway, we have ordered our sofa which has come and a new washing machine that has also come. The sofa came from Argos in the end and its actually really nice and only 3 day delivery. We got a leather recliner sofa in the end. His nan paid for it. The washing machine OH parents bought and mine bought the table and chairs! So all the large items were paid for!:T:T
The broken washing machine is still sat on the front lawn waiting for the landlord which looks a bit !!!!! of us!
Ive really gone on here so better end my post now! We will move in this weekend door ready or not...wish me luck!

Hey
Well the landlord finally called the agency back on friday and said his sorry his been on holiday.
He was apparantly very apologetic about it taking so long to get back to us. Anyway he said the front door is the same as what he took off and the same as the rest of the streets doors. But he did say it was fitted in a rush and he is going to send someone over to sort the locks and add another two bolt locks top and bottom. Also his going to add the rain drip bar and stain and paint the door. And re hang the whole door so it cant be moved back and fourth.
Not exactly what i hoped but at least his making some changes to it.
I also had to go through the inventory and write down a tone of stuff they missed out on. So i havent signed it, im going to post it through the agnecy door today and let them re write it then i will sign it.
Anyway, its all go now we have moved everything over aparrt from our clothes, mattress and toilteries. Im going to buy a new mattress for the house as i want to keep my old mattress at my parents just incase i ever need to go back and sleep the night!
So today looks like ive got a tone of unpacking to do, fun! And then a trip to Argos to pick up a kettle and pedal bin ive reserved with my vouchers. Then a food trip! this is what im dreading most as ive said i will pay the bills and food while he pays the rent and council tax. And well his a 6ft2 tall bloke and eats ALOT! lol

Ohhh new look forum...this is posh!
Well i didnt go for the food shop as had a tone of other thigns to do washing the cutlery and plates etc. Unpacking the boxes of kitchen things took forever!
Then we went around all the DIY places looking for a toilet hinge plastic nut type thing. As underneath and behind the loo the hinge has come loose, all we wanted was one plastic clip but all we could find was hinge packs for £15. The landlord should fix it but we thought it would be an easy fix ourselves. Anyway we couldnt find any but lucky my dad had one up the shed.:D
There isnt a BT line at the house and we want internet lucky we had a virgin media letter through the door and they do fibre optic in our area. I think the landlord already had it from all the wires in the house. So we're just going to have fibre optic internet as we dont need a phone line anyway. Its £20 a month a bit pricey but we need internet!:p
OH called up E-on and made an account and for monthly DD they want £50 a month!!! We dont have any gas just electric, plus darn storage heaters so probably will be that much in winter but surely not summer in this heat! They said the pervious owner paid around that much a month blah blah blah. So thats what im paying.
All the bulbs in the house are normal bulbs and annoyingly in the living round theres 6 halogen bulbs! So instead of using those silly lights were going to buy two floor lamps and put in energy saving light bulbs. I have already replaced the rest in the house.;)
I ordered our mattress today a silver silentnight for £149! Next day delivery so ive taken the day off work tomorrow, i hope it comes early.
So my monthly outgoings:
Tv license £12
Virgin fibre optic net £20
Electric £50
Mobile £20
Food...now this is to still be worked out! But lets say £200
My petrol £80!

Well here i am waiting for the mattress to be delivered. Ive been here since 6.30am! I have no food and no tv
But i bought my laptop along to play on theme hospital and found an unscure wireless connection! So im being a bit naughty and using it to keep me sane! And that way if im still waiting for the mattress hours later then i can order a dominos:D
One of my best mates has her 12 week scan today, she has been off the pill for 8 years and never fallen pregnant with a couple of different partners too. She got married last year and recently she went to the hospital to see why and they said her tubes were blocked, weeks later she done a pregnancy test as hadnt come on he period and hey presto shes pregnant! She had an early scan as had spotting and they think shes a month behind me! Im very happy for her, and now we can chat baby things together. I dont see her much nowadays but we chat online alot. She asked me what buggy im buying but i wouldnt tell her, she said she wanted to be nosey but i said no way you might buy the same and when we meet we will look funny with same buggy.....Im fuuny like that!:rotfl:
This is the one i want http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Collections/Graco-Sterling-I-Love-My-Bear-Travel-System(0076974)
I know its quite bulky but the lightweight small ones dont seem to have storage for bags and things underneath. Ive measured and it will just fit in my boot!;)
My OH now has a new car too a vauxhall vectra 2005 so very big boot and 5 door. So plenty of room for the little one. He bought it at the car auctions so got it very cheap £2700 and everything works perfectly on it! It just needs two tyres and he wants a service done on it.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/1750 -
Hi Maria,
So glad to see everything is going well for you chick! Thank god you have finally managed to get things sorted in the house, now you can get things ready for the little one's arrival. Do you know what your having yet?
Haha naughty on the internet, but what they don't know won't hurt them, they're fault for not making it secure.
That's great about your friend, it's always nice to have a friend who's pregnant too so you can share the joys of motherhood together.
Ooo i really wanted to check out your buggy but the link doesn't work, i love buggy shopping, actually i love anything baby related shopping. So i look forward to the day its for my baby and not friends/family etc! We were lucky a couple of weeks ago as OH and I went to McArthur Glen in Ashford and Mamas and Papas were having a 75% off sale as they are moving premises, we managed to get sooo many lovely baby clothes for £45 and that included 2 really lovely baby sleeping bags. One of our friends has just had a boy and another is having a girl soon. our friend thought we spent £100's on their pressies!
Hope the mattress arrived OK and you didn't have to wait in all day! Domino's sounds lovely though. I'm on the Special K diet at the mo, 3 days in and i'm sooo bored of cereal already, only another 11 days to go!

Hi hayley
The mattress didnt arrive! good job i was able to to get online as at 12pm they sent me an email saying it wast being delivered today! They said because the card address is different to the delivery address they need ID proof the card is mine. GRRRRR. Why didnt it say that when it gives you an option to type different address's and why wait until mid way through the day!
In the email it said they had tried to call me ....but they didnt! I checked there reviews online and oh dear i really should of checked them before placing an order avoid Bedworld at all costs. Evrey review was 1 star and not happy with delivery or quality of the bed frames.
I tried to call them on the number they gave but it goes straight to answer machine surprise surprise. So i emialed them and got an instant reply. i said i wanted to cancel my order and have a full refund as i cant take anymore time off. This afternoon i got a reply that my order is cancelled and money will be back within 3 days. Well i checked and the money hasnt actually been taken out yet.
Grrr nightmare!

That's rubbish about mattress, glad you managed to sort out canceling it, hopefully you can get another one quick hun. I'm definitely avoiding Bedworld now. What a nightmare for you!
Ooo love that pram, sooo cute!! I've heard Babies R Us do some really lovely baby bits, quite reasonable too. Mamas and Papas had pushchairs too so OH had to stop me buying one and putting it away. I too was wanting to buy the whole shop, was well impressed with our buys though. Just wouldn't like the pay the normal Mamas and Papas price, sooo expensive!
22nd June will soon be here like you say. I bet you don't mind what you have as long as it's all healthy! Sorry to hear that chick, just think of your lil bundle of joy who will soon be with you. What is your due date btw?
