World Wide Travel Info - genuine or scam?

Hi all,
We went to the Place in the Sun exhibition a few weeks ago at the NEC. Next thing we know, we're getting a phone call and letter from a company call World Wide Travel Info saying we have been awarded a 6 night break for 4 in several euro destinations, plus a few in the Americas. They categorically deny any involvement in timeshares, etc., but would like us to go to their offices to claim our award. In the next sentence of the letter, they mention a 90 minute exhibition that happens to coincide with getting our award. Later in the letter, they ask us to confirm quick as places are limited. And of course, each free holiday has a processing fee... £49 per person for the EU holidays.
Going to claim our holiday would get us another free break in the UK for a processing fee of only £19.99, or £20 in M&S vouchers.
To me, this smells like a scam, but I can't work out the angle, though I suspect a holiday club. The missus, on the other hand, is up for it and thinks its genuine.
Does anyone have any experience of these guys and are able to give me evidence of their legitimacy, either way? A search on Google doesn't bring anything up except their site.
Thanks for your help,
Schneckster

Well just looked at their website and a few lines down the first page is that word...
Timeshare
Didn't bother reading any more.

Ok. Sorry to have troubled you.0

No trouble at all... it could have been the same one. You didn't know it wasn't, so thanks for trying
Besides, you did point out a timeshare, so I'm sure others will be just as thankful.

Will be the usual get you over there, then you get the hard sell. If it is not Timeshare will probably be a Holiday Club type thing. Whichever it is could be expensive.
If they are that good why is there no address on website ?
Be wary of taking up this 'offer'0 -
What is their address ? Cannot find anything about them, unless they are 'old hands' running under a new name.0

Yes it probably won't be timeshare, but a holiday club. There is legislation in place to protect people from timeshare, but nothing for holiday clubs and that's why they are all going in that direction.0

their website is registered to an individual, not a company....site registered in June of this year. https://www.samspade.org
No company registration info on the website (AFAIK registered companies are legally obliged to display this info on their site)...no company with that name registered in the UK at Companies House that I can see. Only an 800 number on the site - no address as someone else mentioned.
I would steer very clear if it were me.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Further to this, they rang again to get me to confirm I was going. So I took the opportunity to ask some questions.
Me: Are you a limited company?
Them: "Yes we are"
Me: "Good. Whats the address of your registered office?"
Them: "Our address is wherever we do the presentations. This time it's in Hatton"
Me: "As a limited company, though, you must, by law, register an office with Companies House. You can't be a limited company if you haven't. What's your company registration number?"
Them: "I don't know. I haven't got that to hand"
We left it there with them ringing back. By the time they did ring back, I had checked Companies House and found no company by that name. I also checked the domain name and yes it is registered as a personal address... a big no no for a limited company.
When they rang again, I told them all this and suggested they needed legal advice before getting prosecuted. I haven't heard from them since!!
I'd lay odds on them not being registered with ABTA, IATA or Travel Trust Association which means the odds on you actually getting the holiday they offer is slim.
Thankfully, the missus has now been persuaded! LOL
