We were discussing it this morning and I was quoting my online friends (DH said "it's great that you chat, but you are all there because you have handled your finances badly" Ouch!).

    Hi Macgirl,

Just some more info for your DH, we're currently not in debt, but in the past things have been really tight due to redundancy etc., where however good your finances are there are sometimes things outside your control.

Hypno's big problem started I think when a house which was supposedly OK had major problems and was a money pit.

So it's not necessarily handling money badly that makes people come on the forum. It can be due to circumstances largely outside their control.

I'm here a lot, because I identify with a lot of things the people on the dfw section are going through, as we've been there, done it etc.. although we've not really had major debts. But we've had to live the dfw tight budgeting lifestyle to make ends meet, and thus avoid the debts. So it's nice to join in and try to help others.

Also there's brilliant ideas for saving & making money.

Besides that the most important thing is there's lots of nice people :D

Hope your new ideas for saving for the house move work.

Sorry Se, I didn't intend to offend anyone. :o:o:o DH wasn't being critical either, he's very much live and let live - but he doesn't read the forums so doesn't really get it.

I agree that by far the best thing about this site, are the lovely people on here. It does restore your faith in human nature, that the good guys far outweigh the bad :)

Woke at 5.30 - head buzzing. There are 20 watchers on the car and a couple of questions - 1 of which I can't answer, so will speak to my Dad later for his mechanical know how.

I'm also going to ask him if I can use part of his unit as a workshop on Fridays from September. Then I can start my sideline business. There are a couple of areas I can work on, but need a messy space to do it in. Very excited and totally on a mission - (feel a bit like Scarlett O'Hara :D)

Right off for a run - aiming for 8 miles this morning - back later!

A beautiful morning for a run - sadly I am too sore from the fall to head out, otherwise I would be there - typical that just as I get back into it, I go and do something stupid!

Hopefully it won't be too long before the neck eases and I can plod around the block again.

Good luck with the car, and have a lovely day, whatever you do!

    7.9 miles in 1hour 24. :j
Bizarrely, it felt quite easy this morning. I think it must be the week before TOM it's hard the week after, not so hard.

We are going for a picnic with some friends and their children later. I need to buy some food for that, but aim to spend the minimum. I've cancelled a night out planned for the weekend and will rearrange at a later date. We have little DD's party next week, so that will be enough of an expense for one weekend.

Only 10ps from scratches - Butlins only ever lets me have one go on a Sunday now - don't know why that is..... Had a few trickles of cash into Paypal, but have decided to leave it there to build up.

It's shaping up to be another lovely day. Hope everyone has a good day :)

Well done on the run - 10.30 miles for that distance is absolutely perfect at this stage - and the fact that it felt easy too is an excellent sign! Hurrah :j

    Thanks :)

I can see now that it is possible for me to do 13 miles. Next week I'm going to have a go at 9 miles. If I do my usual route, then run to my parent's - I can have a cuppa with Mum and she might drive me back home! :D

It was perfect this morning. I don't listen to music, so it was just me, my thoughts and the dawn chorus in the early morning sun. Life doesn't get much better than that!
I did get a few funny looks from a couple of sheep though :rotfl:
