SKY - Is this true?

Hi
I am moving house soon and yesterday rang to cancel my sky account (i only have sky plus on a basic mix)
When I got through to retentions the only deal they offered me was £30 installation at my new house. I declined and explained that I would just get my husband to sign up as a new customer when we move. The guy on the phone said that the records they hold on me would stop dh getting any new customer discounts despite dh never even applying for a sky account.
the deal I want for new customers is -
£30 installation
free sky+hd box
line rental - think i'd have to pay a connection fee
mid broadband
2mixes
plus £100 quidco
My question is would they be able to decline dh as a new customer?

A house move is normally around £60,so I think they were being reasonable, beaing in mind you'd get new dish & cabling.
If they ask your hubby for a previous address,Chordiant will throw up a list of those in that area.He will have to confirm this. When they select your old address, your account will show up.
Sky have that big a customer base, they dont really care if they loose any in my experience.

hi
Thanks for your reply.
Tbh I didn't believe the guy when he said that but obviously it's true. My sky+ box is broken so I will have to cancel anyway.
Freeview it is then!!Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

We moved and put Sky in my wife's name after move with no problems. not sure why they would ask for a previous address as far as I understand it if its a new address you can sign up again. there have been threads on DS about this and others don't seem to have problems either0

Anyone have a free telephone number for Sky. They have not installed our phone yet and ringing them from my mobile is costing a fortune.
They keep me hanging on for ages and then I get 'cut off'.
Thanks0 -
if you ring a freephone number from your mobile it will usually cost still.
go to www.saynoto0870.co.uk and type in the number you are currently using to call them and it will give you an alternative that can usually be used within inclusive minutes.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

I'm moving house and am still in a contract with Sky and my choices are pay £60 connection fee or cancel and be charged 6 months. Wouldn't mind so much if they offered me the £30 connection fee. I had been planning to change phone and broadband to Sky when I move but I certainly won't be now.0

I think they only offered me the £30 because i was out of contract.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

i got free installation when i moved 5 years ago
theres nothing stopping your husband from being a new customer apart from that 12month contract.. i would pay the £30 then you can cancel with 30 days notice rather than be tied to another 12month contractSealed pot challenger # 10
