Problems with 3 signal. Are they telling the truth?

Options
Hi there. We have 3 contracts in our house with the 3 network, all of which have been brill for 3 years until the last 3/4 months. All 3 phones now lose signal around our house in various rooms and in other areas which were never problematic.

My daughters contract was due to end next week anyway so I phoned them up and told them the situation. They told me a new handset would solve the problem as all phones in the house were over 12 months old. They also said they we should still have excellent coverage as they have a contract with orange to help cover any network issues.

I am sure i read on here that they no longer had a contract with orange.Does anyone know if this true or have i got muddled?

They also told me that it was recognised by nokia that the phone in qustion (nokia 6500 slide) had a problem with 3g software and that i should have been able to terminate this contract earlier had i have wanted.

Im hoping you guys could give me any advice.I now have an ericsson t715 delivered from 3 but dont want to accept it if the network is still naff.

Any help appreciated.

This site http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/ is helpful in at least knowing what phone masts are in your area, and, if there is no 3 mast at all, you can ask them when there will be. If they do have one you can then say that you know where it is and ask if it is working, as they do need maintenance work.
Click on your area then zoom in until you start seeing the blue triangles. Eventually you should be able to click on the triangles to find out who owns them. 3 used to piggyback off Orange but are now, slowly, rolling out their own.
All the networks own 'signal checkers' are at best a guess, at worse inaccurate.
  • I would go and sign up with a different network if they tell you this at the end of the contract or they need to give you a very very good deal to stay.

If you go to another network i would keep your phones and take you 3 contract to 3 PAYG and that way you can use the skype and PAC your number to your knew network.

I would of gone elsehere but as my friend did, port my number across to a different network and got a PAYG sim and kept the old phone for Skype.

I wouldn't be able to trust them again.

Get a few of the free payg sims that are around and see which has the best signal.

jon01,i presume the fone is locked to three though?so i wouldnt be able to put inother sim in from another network?
  • That is exactly the conversation I had with 3 myself, they blamed it on our handsets and particularly my partners slide nokia.

I got a new phone which they promised would be fine and its just then same. To be honest though most networks struggle in my flat anyway. Get your friends to come around and see what sort of signal they get - Orange is terrible here too so it was useless to use their network

Sometimes different phone shows better signal. However, there is no gurantee and do not sign up for a new contract unless you prove otherwise that handset is the problem.

Borrow your friends phones who are on different network and see who gets best signal.

I shall be very surprised in all your handset suddenly becomes faulty that they don't get any signal!
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
