A lot of people have had some sort of accident within the last 3 years. If you started dialling random phone numbers it would probably only take 3 or 4 attempts to find someone.

So chances are they didn't get your details from your insurer or any of the sort, they are just cold calling, and may as well be trying to tell you you've won the Nigerian lottery.

It's more likely the insurance company are working through their files, and have just sold the previous years batch of claims.

I'm sure previous posts on here regarding insurance companies selling on details

No win no fee, my experience you have to take out a form of insurance to cover the cost of the claim , if you win the cost of the policy is recovered from the third party, if you lose the policy pays any fees and the cost of the policy (self insured policy is the term I think)

Do neither of you subscribe to the weekly e-mail then? Have a look at this week's top story...

The OP may have had a genuine call (though even that's doubtful), but that was two years back and this thread's been re-ignited by a newbie (Gillian E) who has almost certainly been called and texted by a scammer. Texting "STOP" probably wasn't wise either :(

I was called yesterday about an accident by some Accident Claims Co. I couldn't understand the Indian accent and I haven't made any sort of an accident claim for at least 10 years. Probably more. So I hung up and left him talking to himself.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
