DCA 'lost' almost £300 of my money!

I have been paying an old Halifax cc debt to a company called Wescot. I have a standing order set up paying them £65 per month and have been making payments every month without fail. Halifax have now for some unknown reason withdrawn the account from Wescot and passed it to Iqor to collect! Very annoying and a stress and hassle i really don't need. BUT Wescot say they have only received a total of £555 from me but my bank records show a total of £815 being paid to Wescot. Wescot have pretty much told me i haven't paid anything since July but i have and my bank statements confirm this, but they wont look in their suspense account and instead tell me i have to prove i have paid! So I am now sending to them my bank statements, but i don't see why i should be paying iqor when the amount is in dispute?
Can i go the financial ombudsman if Wescot don't find where this money has gone? They are so unhelpful, disinterested and rude on the phone.
Thanks

I would send a copy of the statements then take it from there. Im sure once they get those then they will apply the missing payments.0

This doesn't surprise me. I paid a DCA an outstanding company debt a few years ago - just a couple of hundred quid that had been passed to them as we'd disputed the account for whatever reason... anyway we agreed what we would pay, and made a BACS payment as requested with the reference number THEY gave me. It took them a year to find the BACS payment, as they gave me the wrong reference number. A bunch of idiots! Eventually they found the payment and matched it.
A lot of these guys are incredibly unprofessional, and unhelpful even when they've made a mistake.
If Halifax still own the debt, then maybe worth informing them about these lost payments, and send them proof also.0 -
Agency? Makes them sound important. They are only a private debt collecition company. They may be someone's agent but they're no more important than a supermarket trolley collector (important to the extent they do a job).
Wescot are a particularly fine example of a disguting company.0 -

Isn't it just the commonly used term?
I do business with a "graphic design agency" and a "recruitment agency", both of which are privately owned companies.0 -
Actually supermarket trolley collectors are important. Without them, trolleys will be all over the car park and how would people be able to carry around lots of groceries in the shop without trolleys available?
On that note... they do have to wheel the trolleys from one end of the car park to the store... which is a pain when your driving right behind them and have to wait 10 minutes before you can go on your way. :mad:We’ve had to remove your signature.
