Sorry fish face - cross posted - maybe someone can merge them?
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -
What a great idea, this way I may actually get around to doing stuff!
My goals- List at least 15 items this week on Ebay
- Pay the water bill
- Pay the VAT bill!!!
- Get some plants in the ground down at my allotment. It's not raining, I have no excuse!
- Take my old engagement ring to jewellers to get a price. Never liked it anyway.
- Clean the patio windows
Not a big list, but with small child and business to run I long ago realised that if I write a lng list, then I nly get disappointed when only half the things get doneThis year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
Current Pay Off Target : £1500 :mad:0 -
Hello, I don't usually contribute to this one but as I've been soooo bad recently I think I need to to keep me on track! so goals for this week are:
1. Have at least 2 no spend days
2. Spend no more than £35 on weekly shop for 2 (used to be £50 so getting there!)
3. stop buying odd packets of ten fags and give up properly again (and stop blaming stress)
4. do exercise dvd at least twice and keep up the diet
5. Sell flat! (might be a tall order this one but fingers crossed!)Full time working mum to 2 boys

Hi!
this was recommended to me last week when I was having a bit of a crisis so I'll give myself some - hopefully it'll kep my motivation up! Not all DFW, but will help in general feeling of control, which in turn helps me not to spend to boost mood (silly I know).
1. Stick to a grocery list, cook at home all week. (not takeaways etc).
2. List phone on Ebay.
2. Search flat for things to sell - clean and evaluate! Have I enough for a car boot?
3. File papers that threaten to overpower me from my trays next to the computer
4. Exercise at least twice using DVDs (that I bought when couldn't afford to - pah!). Stick to diet - I'm paying to do to SW, must lose weight to make it cost effective!!
5.Sit down with OH and fully go through budget. Most difficult one!

Well this post seems to have the most post (out of the two) so I think this should be the main post by default
I havent done this aims things before but I think its great!
This week my aims are:
- To open my second current account so that I can start paying off my overdraft with big-bad-barclays without having to live out of it as well
- Have a no spend (apart from tea) bank holiday Sunday or Monday (I think this is going to be really tough - although I do live in London so lots of free museums etc around). I factored in tea so I can still hang out with a book in the coffee shop down the road (everyone needs their escape!)
- To not spend any more money this week on food! I have been SO bad recently, its amazing what happens when you stop planning your meals! (might post my meal plan on old style board so I can bore everyone to tears with a million things to make from kidney beans!)
- To find out if anyone I know would like to swop anything from their kitchen with all of the gluten containing stuff in my kitchen - I just got diagnosed recently with celiac and all of the gluten containing stuff (bags of pasta etc) are still lurking around!
- To end the week (very) under budget - due to the fact that I accidently had a I-have-nothing to wear pre party spontaneous shopping panic yesterdayI am SO lame! and spend £30 in about five mins (which actually IS my budget for the whole week
) Why Why!!...ahem! (unfortunately now cant take any of it back as its definately got that party worn-in smell
- To harangue my (2nd job) employer into giving me my P60 so I can write to the Inland Revenue as am fairly convinced they owe me some money!
ok - am going to stop talking now or I will have taken up a whole page!!
ps. the house party I went too last night my friend showed me all of her photo's from travalling - it was so motivating! because they were so beautiful and I am going to be stuck in this smelly city for ever if I dont become a dedicated MSE'r!
No wait - now the other post seems to be the main post - I'm really confused! maybe we should merge them?!!0 -
Great idea!
This week I will be doing the following:
Send old phone off to envirofone
No spend day Sunday
Make HM icecream
Check out profitability of Amazon for second hand stuff.
Start studying for tax exam - cant spend with my head in books. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

I was looking forward to this thread all week!!:j
1. Figure out how to and reduce food spend
Joined the benefits challenge on this board for June so that should help me a bit. Still have a good deal of stuff in store cupboard, so may not have to worry about basics spend for a bit.
2. 4 no spend days
Done it!!:D Berating myself wildly for a silly spend day yesterday though, so all the hard work was quashed in a single day!
3. Transfer monies from high interest credit card to 0% ones
not done yet, got a 0% card with my new a&l account, but it charges a 2.25% transfer fee.
4. Close or change paid off credit card account.
card paid off (monies finally cleared). Calling them today to close cap one card!! :j hooray:j
5. Talk to OH about possibility of opening a joint account.
Done and unsuccessful. But did open separate bills account and he will now put his money there.
all in all a good week:T
so for next week
1: Transfer money and house ddebits to new account.
2: Find the local butchers (running low on meat)
3: List items on ebay (waiting for low price listing day)
4: Get fees sorted for Saturday's work
5: 5 no spend days (have to make up for stupid spending saturday gone:mad: )
