is anyone still buying before xmas?

Some people might be having to look. If they've sold their house and had an ERC then they might have to find/complete on another house in 3-6 months in order to not have to pay the ERC but to be able to port their mortgage onto a new property. So certainly those people will be looking.0

We are still looking & would move before xmas if the right property came along. We have no chain as we are renting at the moment & could move within a month. We are also a cash buyer so no banks involved.

We're still looking to buy, have been looking since august, so little around... we're not too bothered about moving before christmas as we have no kids and are above the stamp duty holiday threshold. so if we find something in Nov/Dec and complete in Jan/Feb that's fine.0

I had an offer accepted on a property for £173k a couple of weeks ago. Desperate to move before Xmas to save the stamp duty.
Many people are in the same boat, but what with postal strikes and Christmas holidays, I think it is really cutting it fine now to complete before December 31st.0 -

I'm just waiting for my mortgage to be sorted, be in for xmas. Our rental date is the 25th, so even if I give notice now thats 1 month from Nov 25. Means I need to move in christmas week!0

We're hoping to be in at start of december. Hoping to exchange by Nov 14th as that's our rental notice date. So far I think we should be OK to meet this deadline, we've had the survey (not too bad although I freaked out to start with when I saw all those "condition 3's"!!), and the mortgage offer should be coming early next week. giving ourselves 2 weeks overlap
Think we will be lucky as the times we've had to send original docs to people we have been inbetween strikes; everything else we've been emailing (eg survey report). Very glad our sol is close to DH's work so we can pop in easily. fingers and everything else crossed for us and everyone else!0 -
Had lots of viewings - 19 in total by Saturday within the last 3 weeks. No offers yet though although three viewers said they were 'possibly interested'.
I know its only been 3 weeks but was expecting an offer out of 19 viewings even a cheeky one. 0 -
Lots going on in London - if you're reasonably priced.
I've just accepted an offer on my place, and had a few people fighting over it in the end.
It will differ in different parts of the country, but certainly there's life in the market yet.0
