Tesco's 'every little helps' bah Humbug

My daughter went into Tesco's and as they are pushing their sales of fruit and veggies with a promotion of 5 wrapped articles for the price of four bought
3 peppers (wrapped)
1 bag of grapes (wrapped)
1 bag of clementines (wrapped)
1 bag of lettuce (wrapped)
1 cucumber (wrapped)
she also bought some other shopping as well.
On reaching the checkout she was told that the cucumber wasn't wrapped, and didn't count, although it was clearly wrapped in a sealed clingfilm wrap .Now cucumbers aren't picked in that condition, and are obviously wrapped at the plant before being sent to stores in boxes .She quite naturally blew a gasket and complained  .She was given a free-phone no. to complain to ,which she did. I think that Tesco's are misleading their customers in their promotion Now should she take a pair of scissors with her next time to cut off the sealed clingfilm wrap that is on a whole cucumber ?
Also whilst on the phone she told the rather disinterested bod on the other end how excited she was after not having her points coupons all year and saving them up for Christmas that the £80'sworth of points tokens earned her the princely sum of one extra pound ,hardly worth saving the posting up for was it .
She spends on average around 60-80 pound a week in tescos.I think their 'every little helps 'means every little helps Tescos and blow their customers.

However, if she had topped this up with £64 cash just before the end deadline for collecting the points, she would have got £6 extra, which percentage wise is a good return for letting Tesco borrow some of your money just for a few weeks.

I think im one of the lucky few lol who havent had any bad experiences with Mr Ts ?

i shop online and have never had groceries not show up / gone off goods etc like a lot of people seem to

i have lovely £35 in clubcard vouchers delivered yesterday which will pay for a day trip for the family in the summer hols :)

people dont seem to like the fact that they are "taking over" but i like the fact you can get everything under the one roof ,saves time for one lol and their clothing / toys etc is usually pretty well priced

you watch i will have tempted fate now and this weeks delivery wont show up or something lmao

Just checked my reciept from Thursday my 5 fruit & veg, including a cucumber did not get the discount.

Didn't check in store, as I was rushing to get back in time for school coming out, but would have only saved 41p!
Here I go again on my own....

Is there not any signs in Tesco to say which fruit and veg items are and aren't included?

i agree i think tescos idividual stores make their own rules up as they go along......the only reason why i shop in tescos at the moment is that i can use money off coupons.....i know you cant take it for granted... but i do rely on that at the mo......as the money i save with using the coupons....i pay that amount off a credit card......i also shop on line, when i get a 1000 point code...which i am saving up to have out at christmas time...as i am trying to save them up for a new kitchen at m.f.i...but looking at the price of them there i am having second thoughts..but i dont buy meat from tescos i buy that from my local butcher where alsorears soem of his meat......

i alllways check my recipts from tesco....as a few pennies over charged by them is a lot to me....

On Tesco online, the cucumber is included too

Can't belive they made such a fuss for a few pence.

Tesco's have a general policy of customer retention as they work out that each customer, once loyal will spend on average £30k with them, unless they find reason to switch to an alternative supermarket, so it's really not worth alienating customers for the sake of a free cucumber

I recently purchased this deal. All the veg and fruit included should have the stick on it, I believe, but can't be 100% sure.

I'm more annoyed that I bought pre packed salad (lettuce, cabbage and carrot combo) and it was off, it tasted SO nasty!

When I was in Mr T's yesterday I remember seeing something about grapes not being included so it may of been that which stopped the money coming off instead of the cucumber.

Doesn't help with Tesco staff not knowing their promotions though :)

Hi - just a thought on this Tesco promotion - the wrapped stuff is usually dearer (and worse for the environment?) -and if all you end up saving is about 40p it might be cheaper to ignore the promotion and buy the unwrapped stuff.
