London to Sydney as Cheap as possible!!!

  • It can also be a bit cheaper if you're happy flying in on xmas day itself. It will be cheaper before the middle of December and after the middle of January, but otherwise I would guess that what people have already found is pretty good. I wouldn't go for less than 3 weeks though, it's too far and the jet lag is a killer, it will take you a few days just to get over that. I would save the trip for another year when you have a bit more time to plan.

Before you book flights, I'd look and see if there is any accomodation available in Sydney then. We went down for NYE - we'd booked in at a local hostel (they 'lost' the booking so no beds for us), we walked around for a day looking for somewhere to sleep. Nowhere at all! Ended up heading back to family in Newcastle.

    Hi,

I think there is always accommodation available - the issue is the price ... some place we looked at wanted over £1000!! for New Year's Eve .... ouch!! We eventually stayed opposite China Town for about £90 a night .... very nice small apartment .... even had roof top pool .... via FreedomofAustralia

I think I must have been lucky the last time I was there... Met a girl outside a nightclub in London She was from Oz. A year or two later when I was heading out that way, I gave her a call. Her mother and herself picked me up at the airport, she vacated her room and went to stay with her boyfriend and I had free accommodation in Sydney for two months over the Christmas and New Year period and a cat for company.
Her mum was lovely. I was made to feel at home...so much so that I didn't want to leave. :)
  • Fantastic! :rotfl:

Funnily enough back in 1991 I met an Oz girl - kept in contact & have been over there to see her 3 or 4 times .... she is now married & so am I .... but we are good friends ...

So, a thumbs up for the Aussies so far.

Now all we have to do is find a cheap flight for the OP. :) Sorry for the thread hijack.:o
