London to Sydney as Cheap as possible!!!

Me and a couple of mates are planning to spend Christmas and New Years in Sydney as its the only time we are all off work, the problem is that as its a bit last minute the flights are looking very expensive at around £1400!

Is there any way of getting there cheaper? Even if we have to do a few days travelling???

it'll take a day to travel there and a day back so from your 11 days, you've only got 9 left, take off another 2 or 3 when you get there to get over jet lag and really start enjoying yourself.

for such a short trip, it really is a huge distance to travel.

LON-SYD comes up at no cheaper for £1400 for me on kayak, with one change, and I can't see anything cheaper.. It is peak season, so it's doubful that you'll get anything else IMO

yes I tend to agree that it really would be a short trip! The cheapest I found takes 2 days to get there and 2 back and so you'd be travelling most of the time to save yourself 150-200 quid.

Best I found for your dates...
    depart 21st Dec ( arrive 23rd)
    Depart 2nd Jan ( arrive 3rd)
Total £1,123.32 inc. airport taxes and fees.

-0.5 cashback :D On asda travel
Scrub that - no seats :-(

You're too close to Christmas to get a really keen price. Can you stay longer?

Air Asia to Kuala Lumpur, then Jetstar to Sydney

    Hi ...

You could look at flying into somewhere like Phuket or Singapore with one airline - & then use one of the cheap no frills Asia airlines to get in Oz. For example look at Virgin Blue or JetStar or AirAsia

AirAsia have a sale on for the dates you are looking at http://www.airasia.com/site/gb/en/promotion.jsp?reference=rr091

They fly to the gold coast, so maybe you could get a cheap flight / car hire / coach down to Sydney from there?

I have had a look at the cheap airlines, but can not get cheaper than £1400 - this is down to the return flight being expensive - coming back later by say 3 days, will make things far cheaper ....

  • This sound like a pretty good price for Christmas and I'm impressed seats are still available this late (popular time of year on the Kangaroo route). As a Sydneysider british expat I would really say if you are coming at Christmas come for longer as lots of things here shut for Christmas (no different to the UK with everyone spending time at friends & families houses except for backpackers on Bondi Beach) and New Year is really busy and needs planning
