Cheapest internet provider for laptop

My partner and i are not really up on the internet but he has bought a lap top and we want to get "0n line"
Before we had Dial up and our phone bill got way out of hand so I really don't want to be going sown that street again.
We are moving into a new rented place soon
My partner is from Spain and often rings his mum there and i have a nice phone package from BT and our House is rented so i am not sure on the phone changing.
we are planning on getting a free view box as Sky was getting expensive and Free View can be just as good

Can anybody give a good explanation of a good package and prices and benifits please.
Thanks Natalie

the cheapest isnt usually the best, with broadband its definitely a case of you get what you pay for

    Natalie -

It sounds like you want to save money on your internet and TV costs.
Moving to Freeview from Sky sorts out the cost of TV.

When it comes to internet access, you're right that dialing up and paying for phone calls can easily get out of hand - but there is an alternative option, cheaper than broadband, that would fix your costs.

You can pay a monthly fee for dial up access via a freephone 0800 or 0808 number - so you're not paying for the length of the call. Various companies offer services like this.

I have used https://www.dmcdial.net for several years, who offer a £5.99 per month deal, offering you 40 hours of access per month. They also have a £7.99/80 hour option.

There are other companies offering similar or cheaper services - but make sure you end up with a reliable service. In the past, some of the very cheapest services were engaged at certain times. Now that everyone seems to be jumping on the broadband bandwaggon I don't know if this is the case now. As long as you are not asked to enter a minimum term contract you can easily switch to someone else.

You need to have a BT phone line for these services to work.

I'm only paying £11.75 (discountadsl.co.uk) a month for broadband only on a 3 month contract. I've never been one for combined packages because if you're tied into taking all of the services from one provider. Splitting them out to individual providers at a later date could be a nightmare.

https://www.adslguide.org.uk is worth looking at if you're just after broadband or https://www.maxadsl.eu has been popular for 8mb broadband packages.
