Re the 900 minutes - remember also to factor in your partner's minutes allowance - hopefully there should be enough minutes between the two contracts.
Trixxie
I totally forget the OH may have minutes on there contract tooAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

Remember your 900 minutes won't cover an hour a day to your OH. Outside of most contract minutes, your lookign at about 35p a min, so to make the the remainder (1680-900) x35p = £273 a month of calls. For an extra £5 a month you might be able to up the minutes to something like 1200...
Will def get an email from him stating the details. "Unlimited" seems to be a totally inappropriate word for what they are offering on intrernet, minutes, texts... Do Trading Standards allow them to say unlimited and then put a cap on it in the small print? I mean, 500mb is hardly a lot of download. I know all the networks do it, Doesnt make it right.
I was thinking to use the (again) "unlimited" landline calls most of the time for the OH, taking my use of the 900 mins down a lot.
Can I check how much of the 900mins/Unltd landline mins/download Mbs limit has been used some how? I assume there is a section on their website that shows this info.
And what phone is the best for use as a modem (cable or via bluetooth) Was looking at the Nokia Satio or N97 mini or 5800/ HTC Touch Diamond or HTC Touch Pro 2/ SE W995/ Palm Pre. Not in any order of preferance...
I think some of these are prob not available on Voda, but he did say any phone...:D
There seems to be some poor reviews of the N97 mini and the Satio and Sony Ericsson W9950 -

Shouldn't cost extra (unlike O2 and iPhone for example) but note the 500MB monthly cap on 'unlimited internet' might be a bit tight if you're going to be doing more than surfing and emailing. Video/music downloads or streaming will eat into it quite significantly.
Bear in mind also, I don't think you'll be able to make/receive calls while you're online or vice versa.
Hi Random, just to set things out and make sure we all know what the situation is:-
I am not sure what it is called or even what the set up will be... What i have is a mac laptop and nothing else at the moment. (ok i have a sony ericsson z710i, but that is faulty and not really coming in to the equation.
I want to use the laptop over the moble networks, and make a fair use of the mobile phone for calling both landline and mobile. A large proportion of the calls will be to my OH when she is away. these can be to either a land line or her mobile. I am assuming she will call me sometimes:T, as long as i have not infuriated her too much... :rotfl:
My partner is on an o2 contract that gives 500 mins and 200 txts. She will have some minutes for me, but on the offer above I would be happy to have the minutes billed to me if they stay within my limits. I previously thought of going to o2 and using the 'family' Bolt On so I could call her foc, but not sure if that is such a good deal as Voda are now offering.
Thanks all for your guidance.
