Three teenage daughters, all on £10 a month contracts with unlimited texts and internet, all three girls have never over spent, they all know how to check their usage and know they would lose the priviledge if they abused it.0

I don't think I want a contract, just a simple PAYG which they will have to pay from their pocket money once the initial £10.00 each has been used as I am getting them for emergency use. They want them for the other things, camera, MP3, etc. However my dfaughter is keen on a touchscreen for some reason.
Try the LG Viewty KU990i, touch screen, fairly cheap and on all the networks0 -
Check the virgin site out £10 a month deal low call and text but free phone! at the moment tocco light 100mins 100 text as you say they don't use it much so the phone seems to be the important thing? The measure of love is love without measure0

even when they reach 18, its still never a good idea to go the contract route, as the inclusive deals are only used by 40% of thos paying for them, the rest provide considerale profits to the netowkr, for providing nothing else!
Whilst I agree with the sentiment of not giving a kid a contract phone (Especially as often these premium texts are aimed at just such teens who might not have the common sense to realise just what a scam they are). PAYG surely has to be the way to go, especially the deals you can get with T-mobile and Orange for a tenner a month and get oodles of texts - many benefits of contract, without the unlimited calls at a price contract gives.
I have though to disagree that contract is "never a good idea". I'm on contract, wouldn't have it any other way, and I'm a really heavy texter. Just to give me as an example, my cost is £15 a month. I get unlimited texts, and some calls. Could get this slightly cheaper with T mobile, but this way, I get a "free" phone. Stick in a cashback, divide it by the months in the contract, and it works out considerably cheaper than T-mobile or any PAYG deal, WITH a new phone (Which of course isn't really free, but in this case, it becomes almost free).
I will agree though, looking at some Vodafone tarrifs, over £30 a month for limited minutes and texts, I always wonder who is barking enough to may this humongous fee for the little you get. What's the point of getting a really expensive phone - you only might leave it on the bus or wherever. Get a bag of spanners instead
But I massively digress0 -
Tocco lite gets good reviews for a touch screen. Mind you I have my eye on an alcatel one touch mini for my 16yr old.

Looks the biz for the price and can take SD cards. Not worried about the camera at all.
RE untimited texts- O2 have a plan that is unlimited txts with a £10 top up for a month and £15 gives unlimited net too! Must get the kids swapped too that before the end of the month.0 -
