  • I think she means she'd never move somewhere with storage heaters again!

E7 is fine, but if storage heaters aren't suitable for you then they are rubbish!

If you just need a few hours heat in the evening then a fan heater or panel heater may be better.

However you can use storage heaters in a way that isn't too bad for people who are out all day.

Charge them as usual at night (probably start on a lowish setting and see how it goes) turn the output dial right down to minimum when you go to bed and only turn it up when you get in of an evening. This way you will get the maximum amount of stored heat in the evening. It isn't ideal as some heat will leak, but this should mean that you don't get a cold damp house while you are out, and you should have enough heat left over for the evening. Insulation of the house is also crucial with an all electric property so get insulated as much as possible.

Finally if you are out all day an E10 tariff that gives and afternoon or evening boost might suit you better than E7. Be a bit careful as they can be more expensive but they tend to either give you seven hours cheap at night and and extra three in the afternoon or evening, or some give five over night and two boosts of two and three hours.
  • Oh and renting sometimes does prevent you switching supplier although not tariff.

How? If the account is in her name she can use whatever supplier she wishes. Though the EON rep has already said they can switch her over from Economy 7.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Ahh thanks guys

Okay so I just ring EON and ask to change rate as the heaters are now off? Does this mean If I have to put the heaters on say, 1 night a week to dry clothes its going to be more exspensive?

Drying things outside is only going to be possible for a few more weeks

Will give them a ring now.

    Cheers

Yes, as the EON rep advised, just supply both meter readings. Yes you will pay more for any electricity usage off peak, but all your on peak usage will be cheaper.
Suggest before you switch you go to the energyhelpline or uswitch sites and work out which EON tariff will best suit your needs, the standard tariff is rarely cheapest.
