Thanks. I'm looking into the cars you've all been suggesting, I won't get a Skoda, and I'm looking into insurers. Thanks lots!0

Have you tried youngmarmalade.co.uk They sell new small cars, but if you are 21+ you get free insurance, and I think they give you 40% NCB after a year. Also take into account that a new car will come with a years road tax, breakdown cover, and be 3 years warranty. This may not be the cheapest route for you but you would have the feel good factor of a new safe car, low running costs, hassle free etc0

Hi Steph,
Also if you can I'd recommend you do the pass plus scheme, you not only get some motorway experience but many companies give you a year NCD for passing the thing.
Some councils pay a grant towards the scheme too so it only cost you around £20 if your local council helps out too.
Sheila's wheels is also for females - have been with Diamond myself for a couple of years and no problems so far.
Also recommend seeing what the local driving schools teach in, maybe get an older version of that kind of car?0 -
Hmm - not sure about citroen ax - allegedly they are very poor in an accidentI think....0

I had an accident in my AX last year, when I hit another car,and he came worst off.
Mind you,it was my AX race car with a full roll cage, seat, harness, and it happened on a race track........

Don't be put off getting slightly larger cars (eg escort astra) by the thought of insurance costs, I personaly found that there is very little difference in price for new drivers of old cars. Although when I canged from a nova to a Renault 19 some insurers wanted almost double, others such as elephant, bell, and some others I can't remember only wanted 5 to 10% more.
Also in a larger car you would probably be safer in the event of an accident than you would in a simular age small car.0
